E85 runs between $1.65 and $2.25 in most places currently. 1 gallon of gasoline contains 114,132 BTU of energy. 1 gallon of E85 contains 83,263 BTU of energy. 114,132 BTU / 83,263 BTU = 1.37 gallons of E85 to equal the equivalent of one gallon gasoline. So in reality you are paying $2.26 to $3.08 for the equivalent amount.
