Evo 9 warrenties
It is the LAW that the part you put on your car has to contribute or cause the problem your attempting to have under warranty. Please review the link provided below for more information:

CF: No if you put on a TBE and your HID's go out the dealer cannot deny your warranty for that.
If you add a TBE and you blow your motor/tc etc, they CAN argue that the "added power" caused the failure, and generally can get away with it. If you must take your car in for service, TAKE IT BACK TO STOCK, or as close to stock as you can.

To put it plan and simple. Just don't put anything on that you can't easily take off.
If you need warranty work done just change it back to stock.
The service depatment at Union Mitsubishi in Down town LA is great on fixing everything under warranty as long as it is stock. They don't care what it had on it before you brought it in.

Which part of california are u from? Most dealers are NOT mod friendly. So I'd say do ur homework on which dealer u buy from and take it in for service for future reference.
I got my evo9 at San Rafael Mitsubishi (Bay Area). They are very mod friendly and even got their own speed shop next door.

If you read all the warranty threads on the forum you will see a common theme: Mitsubishi dealers and district reps do not abide by the spirit of warranty law. Read my sig, that is the law. It is easy for someone to say "they cant void your warranty for that, its against the law". Most of these people havnt had warranty issues' at least not big ones. Granted there are some exceptions, some people seem to get lucky and things get fixed. Some dealers and district reps are easier to deal with than others but the process is made to be as difficult as possible. I have had my peeling brake callipers denied and my the syncros in my trans are grinding but was told it wont be covered because of my intake & exaust. I have gone to two dealers and appealed to the disrict rep without success. The only thing I can do is have it repaired and then try to sue for the repairs. Most people wouldnt go through this hastle and give up.

Best thing is to buy the car assuming no warranty, then go out and play the mitsu warranty lottery. You may get lucky and get what is owed to you.
