Evo 9 warrenties

Hi, i'm pretty new here but i'm going to be buying a evo RS or 9 on mororial day and I figured I would do my homework on the car.

What I want to do with my car is put some simple mods on it like intercooler, cat-back, wheels that type of thing. How far is too far to go with the mods before they start *****ing about what do you and try to void the warrenty?

The reason i am concerned with the warrenty is because i plan to drive the car into the ground for about 5 years then sell it. If i need a new clutch or 2 thats doable but if i have the pay for a new transfer caseing thats not.

Thanks for info/ comments

read my lips "NO WARRENTY AS SOON AS PULL OUT OF THE DEALER LOT"! Mitsubishi sucks on their warrenties and if you fart the wrong way in the car they say that caused your grinding issues with your tranny. In all seriousness though you should wait a while (like at least 5k before you mod) so you give the engine and tranny time to really break in and loosen up.

Ha mitsu shouldn't even offer a warrenty, cause they dont back up their cars. YOu change the fog light bulb consider your warrenty void. Any company that searches autox websites for your name, or goes to a drag strip to photograph liscense plates are looking for any excuse not to cover your warrenty.

I like how this one guy from socal Mitsubishi put it. "if you install an aftermarket part and it breaks an OEM part it will void the warranty". Thats not his quoted statement, but drop him a P/m, he knows what hes talking about.

Check out the Socal Mitsu dealers.

I would say cat-back and drop in filter should be fine. Boost controller, intercooler, and etc would most likely raise flags. Either way do what you want and if you have to bring the car in put it back to stock.

There really is no point in a drop-in filter, every dealership is different and I think a catback would already raise some flags. Just a thought of mind

sigh here we go again....

ok dealers can't just void your warranty because u have after market part on your car.

If a problem arrises, the dealer has to prove that the aftermarket part is at fault.

Most of the time dealer will void Transmission warranty if you have a aftermarket clutch, which is logical. However they cannot void your transmission warranty because u have a aftermarket exhaust, intake etc.

So basicly if your aftermarket part is at fault, the warranty for the part that is affected by the aftermarket part will be voided.

that is exactly what they said at coconut creek mutsu. but installing an after market cat will void your warranty. So if you bring it in for regular service (not warranty work) and they see it, I guess your warranty is void

I have a few things replaced under warranty with vehicle at stock, but now I have TBE and suspension. Should I changed these parts to stock for any future warranty claim?

if a dealer tell u otherwise tell them they are wrong, and take the matter up to the district representative.
