Hi there,
Sorry for the delay. I hope that you are still interested to buy my 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.
I want you to know that I live in New York, and the car is here with me... I've listed the car as been in San Fransisco because I had another customer in this area who said he will buy the car. After I made all the shipping arrangements and paid for it, he changed his mind. The shipping fees are already paid.
As you know, the price of the car is $10,700 and for payment I have 2 options:
1. I request a deposit of $4,700 to be sent via Western Union to my name and address, and as soon as I have the money I'll send you the car. ( the rest of the money after you receive the car )
2. To make the deal via www.escrow.com
The car has a clean title, never been in any accidents, no scratches, no damage, perfect condition. Is very important for you to know that I don't want a C.O.D. deal. I also don't have the time to meet with you in person... I'm sorry... and beside that the car is already crated at the shipping company. I want to sell the car fast... so I can negotiate the price a little.
If you have any more questions, feel free to reply with them.
Thanks and best regards, Scott.
I asked for more info, like parts list or mileage and this is all I got so far. Still no vin number.
Also does New York have Palm trees?

Tell 'em Matt!
I wanted to buy that car myself, but it was over my budget. Well worth it though for someone with the funds.
Anyway, these people are idiots first off by trying to pull a scam like this, but second, to make it so damn obvious by putting a $10,700 price on a beautiful car like that!
Maybe they thought it was just a Lancer, however it'd still be higher. That was silly though.

Yeah - What I don't understand is why not make it actually *believable*.
Put up a pic of a 98 240SX with 80,000 miles for $10,000. At least that looks like a deal, and looks like the seller is just going by KBB or something (where most entusists would know that car should be more).
There's something about the number $4700 and Western Union too. That must be the amount Western Union will send without having certain certification, or collateral...
Oh well... as long as there aregulliable people, there will be scammers.

I tried to by a BMW that was listed in VA...when I contacted them, they said It was now in Germany with the same excuse...I told them I had a buddy living there that would come and inspect the car and and make handle all business for me...never heard back frrom them again..
They use the low prices to lure people into thinking ...wow this is a good deal!
