Scam or not What do you guys think

Found this on craigs list

http://www.craigslist.org/sfc/car/137550253.html

He sent me this when I replied to it

Hi there,

Sorry for the delay. I hope that you are still interested to buy my 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.

I want you to know that I live in New York, and the car is here with me... I've listed the car as been in San Fransisco because I had another customer in this area who said he will buy the car. After I made all the shipping arrangements and paid for it, he changed his mind. The shipping fees are already paid.

As you know, the price of the car is $10,700 and for payment I have 2 options:

1. I request a deposit of $4,700 to be sent via Western Union to my name and address, and as soon as I have the money I'll send you the car. ( the rest of the money after you receive the car )

2. To make the deal via www.escrow.com

The car has a clean title, never been in any accidents, no scratches, no damage, perfect condition. Is very important for you to know that I don't want a C.O.D. deal. I also don't have the time to meet with you in person... I'm sorry... and beside that the car is already crated at the shipping company. I want to sell the car fast... so I can negotiate the price a little.

If you have any more questions, feel free to reply with them.
Thanks and best regards, Scott.

I asked for more info, like parts list or mileage and this is all I got so far. Still no vin number.
Also does New York have Palm trees?

I'm new here but here's a thought for you... "If you have to ask..."

Sounds like the short version of the west african scam. You send money, no car, you out ~$5K.

If you have to ask, thats probably a good indicator. I mean come on now... other than saying in the title of the email "THIS IS A SCAM" I'm not sure what other red flags there could possibly be.
