What about the AYC & ACD
#3
There is a rumor that it might not come with AYC to make room for a bigger gas tank. I think it only has like a 10.5 gal. fuel tank because of the space the AYC takes up. There is also concern about long term reliabilty and maintenence concerns the AYC will bring. Afterall they do want to bring us an EVO that will appeal to a bigger market
How does this sound: Evo similar to the GTA but with optional auto tranny, optional Recaros, optional big wing and no AYC

I still think Mitsubishi isn't trying to shoot for the masses with this car. This is going to be their corner-stone....the vehicle around which all of their other vehices will be judged.
Mitsubishi WILL shoot for a great car with enthusiasts in mind, not the masses. They have to or they will most definately lose to the Scoobies.
My opinion: The GSR WILL make it over here almost fully intact w/ the exception of HP. It will have the AYC and the ACD. There is no doubt in my mind.
The GT-A may make it over, but it will be listed UNDER the GSR, and it will be the GSR that's advertised heavily.

It seems there are only a couple of us around anymore that believe this GTA is utter nonsense. It wont come over in plce of the GSR. Puhlease, Mitsu knows what it has to compete with and it wont be able to do it with the GTA.

The only thing any company aims for is profit. Rather it is for enthusiasts or general masses remains to be seen.
As for what needs to compete, that is to make money any way they can. If GT-A is where Execs think that will do the job, I don't think they would bring the RS/RS-2/GSR for enthusiasts sake.
Look at the recent Toyota V6 issue as an example. They will destroy their long term reputation of reliability by claiming that "Oil Gel" issue is because of customer misuse. Saying that their customers did not do the 5000 miles or 6 months oil change thing..... tell me how motor oil more than 6 month old with less than 5000 miles cause oil sludge. So does that mean 6 month old oil on the shelf should be trashed? They should just do a recall and get the issue resolve [even though it is expensive ($8k for engine/labor)] and keep the large customer base intact. This incident seems to have some Toyota lovers having second thoughts about their product lines.
That is a good example of Corporation execs at work. Their Motto "Do anything and everything to make a profit with less/no customer service".
I think that might still be the case here with .
But we just have to sit on the side line and see.

I was just thinking, what RON fuel do you guys have in the US? In Japan it's 100-101RON. In Britain we only have 98RON at most and the car loses some bhp.

We actually lost some recently. We were at 92 and now we are at 91. You can find certain stations that carry 100 race gasoline. Its pricey though.
edit: My bad, I screwed up my numbers

I heard the AYC in the Evo VII was pretty good compared to earlier models. I have a feeling that the routine maintenence is something the general public in the US would dislike though. Hell you're lucky to get some people to change their oil

10.5 gallons is pretty small. my 11.9 gallon tank is on the smallish side.
should add a second tank and have two fuel holes (what the hell are those called?). they could also add the ability to switch from 4WD to 2WD via the wheel hubs.
