Are you in the same boat as me?

I'm starting to shop around for a '98-'00 Audi A4. I'm just tired of all the waiting and uncertainty that is going on. I don't want to spend $30k on a car that isn't what I want. I don't want to have to "settle". I am a Evo **** like you can't believe, but this BS of having to wait and the constant conflicting news is just getting me more and more frustrated. I figure if I get an A4, then I'll have a 4-door AWD car and won't have to worry about if I'll be getting the Evo that I want.

And WTF is Mitsu thinking? Don't they know they'll easily be able to sell every Evo (same as Japan specs) they bring over quicker than you can sell Brittney Spears tickets to a bunch of teenagers with viagra? Why make it an auto tranny? Why butcher it?

Talking long.....

I just posted this over in the dealer chit-chat thread...it's what I think of all this GT-A non-sense

I honestly don't think that Mitsubishi would be stupid enough to bring that POS over here. They really have nothin out there in the high-performance market. The Eclipse is a semi-sports coupe, but lt's be honest, the Eclipse isn't a real high performance vehicle. It's a great car and it COULD be a high performance vehicle, but nobody's really jumpin on the bandwagon fer the aftermarket on it.

Not to mention if they just brought the GT-A over, the would have nothin to compete with the STI, and barely even the WRX. Strike that....if they brought over the GT-A, I would buy a regular WRX before I bought the GT-A, and I hate the looks of the WRX.

They would seriously be putting the nail in their own coffin if they brought over the GT-A and only the GT-A. That would be quite possibly the dumbest thing they've ever done, even more stupid than not comin out with a GS-T or GSX fer the new gen Eclipse's.

I know Mitsubishi's done some pretty dumb things, but bringing the GT-A, that's just plain " I ride the Short Bus" stupid, and I don't think even Mitsubishi would be THAT clueless.

As far as you going with an A4 goes.....Don't be that guy dood. That's like going to a concert with the T-shirt of the band yer going to see....don't be that guy.

I've been discouraged many a time when looking at this car. I've had plenty of issues with the waiting and the rumors and all that BS. I just choose to ignore it all now.

I'd just wait it out. At least wait until we get some sort of official announcement from Mitsubishi about what form it's coming. As far as I'm concerned all of the rumors mean JACK ****. The A4 will always be
available after you find out whether or not it's coming full spec or not.

Keep the faith brotha!!

I love the EVo. But this will be the first summer in a long time that I don't have a sports car.

I don't concider my CRX W/B16a a sports car.
But if the price is over $30k.
That 93 Porsche 911 RS america start to sound real nice. Which I've alway wanted.
If I buy the EVO this will be my eight Jap sport car. I'm getting tired of over paying for performance Parts.

If the price is good then it a viable option. If not Porsche here I came.

Who the heck cares if they bring over the GT-A? As long as they bring over the GSR as well. Let 'em sell the crappy car to the masses. It'll be their WRX, the GSR is their STi.

I doubt they will bring over different trim levels of the Evo. It will just be the GTA with optional Recaros, optional adj. wing, etc. The GTA will plain and simply sell better in the US. Just look at how many people on this board alone said they'd remove the big wing for a smaller one because they don't like it. The GTA comes with a small wing and no wing is even an option. The more I think about it the GTA isn't too bad ecect for the fact that it should retain the GSR hood. Did you see the Recaros that are optional on the GTA? For some reason I'm thinking they are different than the GSR Recaros...no slots for harnesses...a more "production"looking type sport seat.

I pray with every fiber in my body that you are wrong.....I think mitsubishi would be very foolish to only bring the GT-A but I cant see a reason why they would see not to....They will be trying to attack the masses..GT-A will do so...All the little accord boys who have wet dreams about h22's will then want an evo.....I dont think these companys have any insight into the american market though....it seems like they would...but consider all the kids moding civics.....and then honda releases a civic that is even harder to modify? Where is the logic in that? .......I pray for the best....yet fear the worst..

I disagree whole-heartedly....

Mitsubishi is trying to sell to the masses, but why lose a whole market in the process?? They HAVE TO and I mean HAVE TO have something that will compete with the WRX and the the STI. If they don't they're losing a WHOLE market, not to mention a ****load of enthusiasts.

Just because someone wants a smaller wing doesn't mean they're going to want the GT-A with it's lowered performance. When you talk about the GSR yer associating it w/ all the amenities not to mention a manual tranny. When you talk about the GT-A yer talkin a car w/ a whole bunch of options and an auto tranny.

I can't believe nobody's backin me up on this one....

I'm goin to sleep...this crap is makin me entirely too pissed off.

No freaking way they only bring the GT-A.

It doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

yeah im going to say this again.

RX-7, Supra, 3000GT, 300ZX almost i guess all had automatics too..
well of course they will have to have manual transmission because a sports car wouldnt be a sports car anymore if its not.

i hope that it will be the GSR model..

i always wanted the galant GTZ to have a manual transmission but oh well.. the camry and accord v6 doesnt so yeah

I'm not saying I think they'll bring the GTA exactly how it is. I think they'll bring a version similar to the GTA. I think things such as the big wing, Recaros may be optional...as would an auto tranny (optional not std). The Evo could then appeal to more people yet still be a contender for the Sti.

Yes, I'm in the same boat as you.

But hang in there --- the next couple of years are shaping up to be good ones for AWD sport sedans:

Evo VII
STi
A3/S3
IS-300 (AWD rumors; no announcement yet)

Hooby,

I agree with the principal of what you're saying but we're talking about executives here. All executives at all companies are completely out of touch and usually make the wrong decision. Once in a while a right decision is made by accident and things are amazing for a few minutes. Sometimes a good decision is made and it gets ignored because people are stupid or just don't expect anything good. The next decision is just as bad as all the others though and the cycle repeats.

Facts suck!
