Can't get the silicone off the headlight?

I was blackening out my headlight and got some melted silicone on the lens accidently..

And these are super sticky!
What product do I use to get rid of them?
Or should I just scrape them off with razor blade??

Anyone who has done this, please let me know!

im not an expert but dont use a razor blade to scrape it off! unless you have a type of buffing wax and a buffer then hey go for it. how much silicone you got on it?

They're smoked (dark metallic grey). Not exactly flat black like JDM 05 MRs but nice nonetheless. =P

you could try goo gone or maybe a plastic polish. I have t-shirts with the silicon on them to this day from working with headlights about 4 years ago. Fun stuff.

i don't know if this is true with the headlight plastic, but there is a way where you could use high heat to glaze the plastic to remove scratches.

just use some goo gone on a q-tip, tap it with it and use your finger to get it off.

It's either that or the heat gun. if you don't have a heat gun, hair dryer on high to warm up the silicone and rub it out with your fingers.

Yeh, that's what I thought to, 06's got that real nice chrome black housing.

dont try anything to harsh, its likely to melt the acrylic. Silicon is one of those adhesives that is a bear to work with and just as hard to get off. Your best bet may be to try to heat it to loosen it. If it was on metal, I would suggest MEK or tolulene but I think those will eat the plastic.

It was nice but wasn't dark enough for me
I'll try some goo gone and hair dryer.
Thanks for the input!

Do not use goo-gone/goo-off..I tried that long time ago on my 2G GSX when I was black'n out the front headlights...from my experience, they make the clear plastic dull/smeary...even the buffer couldn't take it out afterwards...I suggest heating it up and pick at it until it comes off...

yeh, actually went out to read the label on it. Says test it before use on plastic.

heat gun would be a bit too hot for the headlight.

I would use hair dryer.

I'm sure they have silicone chaulk remover that's safe on acrylic.
