Like everyone has said IL gives you two plates, it is required. I am almost sure that it is not legal to have the plate resting in the front windshield.

I have been stopped and had to go to court for no front plate before, imo its just not worth the hassle to not put it on.

Velcro? Are you using just the plate or the mounting bracket also? Pic?

Just duct tape it to the windshield!
Windshield + California = illegal.

Really I thought the front window counted as a suitable mounting place in all states.

Yea, there's not many states now that don't require front plates. here in Cape Girardeau, MO I see MO and IL cars with no front plate more than i do with them.

Nobody I know has had a problem with it yet (knock on wood)

I drove past Stone Park this past weekend (AND THEY ARE THE BIGGEST FN D!CK COPS EVER I DONT CARE WHAT ANY1 SAYS) you sneeze in your car your getting pulled over, anyhow I just got a ticket...I told the cop that the plate was scratchin my bumper which is true, and hes like "no buddy sorry we are "enforcing" this law for the weekend" I get a FN ticket for $75 because its a safety violation...I could have swore I did hear him say that I could put it on go to court and just tell them the plate is on the car and theyll toss it out but I was too damn pist at the moment that I dont know if I heard right,

REQUIRED FRONT PLATE IS THE GAYEST F*CK*N LAW EVER!!!!!!!

Yeah, I really dont see the need for the front license plate, I mean when I see a cop infront of me, they get behind me anyway to run my license plate. Its not like they run it when they are in front of me.

yes it's illegal, and to put it on your winshield is illegal too, but it's not like it matters right *shrugs*

yes, you should have a front license plate, i have warnings to prove it...

you bring it to court, with a pic of your car with the license plate "on" and ticket gets pulled

I cut my front plate and put it behind the mesh on the drivers side vent thing on the bumper. I did this when i had the bumper off when putting on the FMIC.

It is a "fix-it ticket". When you go to court prior to getting in the DA will talk to you. Show a picture of the plate on the car and if you want, explain that you needed to order a new license bracket. The ticket should get thrown out.

If you haven't put it on yet, and don't want to drill the ~1/2" hole I mounted mine using 2 of the factory bolts but used double sided tape in the location you are supposed to drill the front bumper.
