Who's previous car was faster than an Evo?

Has anyone actually owned a car before their evo that was actually faster than an evo? I really want an evo just because I've always wanted one.. but i used to have a 12.4 car that i daily drove just fine. I was wondering how you guys cope with "up/down-grading" to an Evo... I know I can make an evo faster than that, but I know that wont happen for a while because i'm going to be poor after I buy it.... What did you guys drive before that was faster and what in the Evo made up for that? What I think IMO that will make up for it, is probally the comfort and traction.

I had a couple of muscle cars that might? have been faster in 1/4 mile,(that was before I started drag racing on a track) but in every other part of driving fast the evo kills them.
My last 3 cars, supra mkIII, WRX, EVO VIII. EVO is the fastest by far.

Vladie, not to bust your bubble but the evo has better numbers than the m3. Don't get me wrong the M3 is an awesome car but its also almost twice the money. IMO the EVO is a 4 door awd M3. and its cheaper.

Sure... a couple of 500rwhp mustangs, 03 Cobra...etc... Z06, all fun in thier own way, but the Evo has the best "feel" and is damn practical

Yeah, I agree, I've beaten ever Evo i've ever raced, which include ones with cams, mbc, etc. And they were fast from a dig, but I would always catch up and pass them. Also, when I drove my friend's stock Evo 9... it felt like one of the slowest things i've ever driven. I know with some bolt ons and a flash, it'll feel 10 times better. But was that how u guys felt after you got an evo?

edit: and by no means am I trying to bash on evos, I love them and can't wait till the day I get one... but i'm trying to get other's views on this because most people dont come from very fast cars before evos, alot of people I know come from Hondas, etc. that in comparison make the evo look like the fastest thing in the world to them... it's all about perspective, and I'm trying to get others somewhat in my position's perspectives.

My 87 Grand National was faster 11.42 . My 74' 260 Z with mikuni 44's and intercooled CarTech turbo ran 12.28 @ 118 on street tires (back in 93' was very fast for an import). Slower ET, faster MPH. Last but not least my fastest street bike was my 03 GSXR1000. It ran 9.92 @ 144 on motor (156hp)and never ran at the track with the nitrous (202hp) The evo will be my fastest car shortly. May I add that the evo is more fun than every CAR I have ever had when it was only running 12.8 with TBE and EBC. You cannot buy a car in this price range that does EVERYTHING great. Hands down the best car for 30k,40k,50k.

*Edit* I already know you can build a cheaper car to do this starting from scratch(but I would rather spend 20k more to get into the Evo than drive a 10 sec CRX or whatever "beater" car turned sleeper). Yeah its fun to beat other cars with a sleeper, but in the end your still driving a junker....

I used to have a 240 with an R34 neo6 rb25det out of an R34 skyline GT-T. I dont have it anymore because on an S turn, I boosted a couple PSI and my rear end kicked out and i slid into a tree. It used to hit full boost (15psi... stock is 7) at 2300 RPM. So it was really hard to drive in the rain.

My 92 GSX did 11.4 and was fun to drive but handles no where near what the EVO does. For the few mods I have, the EVO is a much better car and after tomorrow it should be damn near as fast as the GSX on PUMP gas Looking for 10's on C16

I agree with you 100%... I spent about 17k to build my 240, but the ride quality was crap, and it was frightening to drive that thing in the rain or even in the dry without slicks or without being on stock boost, which is still fairly scary.. Also, it had NO comfort, no a/c, pw, pl, etc. I am really looking forward to the AWD of the Evo and all it's comfort to come with it.. When i read how people compare the comfort of the sti to evo and they're so nit-picky, I laugh. When I sat in my friend's Civic, I thought it was amazing how comfortable it was in there compared to my 240. haha.
