Spark Plug Question?!? Please help!!

I am going to VA tommorow at 12:30. I noticed slight powerloss, guessing that its the plugs... went to local autozone all they had was Splitfire Tripple Platnimum.... is it worth installing or should I push this of till after the trip? I live in Redding CT, dont mind driving for the plugs any places that may have good plugs in stock? or should i throw these on? they where 3.99 each.... ;(?

It's so easy to do, why not give it a try?

DO NOT USE PLATINUM PLUGS. Go ask for NGK BPR7ES, gap them to .026, and slap 'em in. If they don't have those, see if they have BR7ES, BR8ES, or BPR8ES, but you really want the 7s.

Using the platinums will be bad.

Agreed, no platinum. They will try to tell you what plugs to put in your car because "they know more than you" or at least think they do. Do as Warr said and request the NGK BPR7ES. They will then probably tell you that these "are definitely not what you need." Ignore them, buy, and enjoy. Sorry, quotes from my local auto store.

Yeah the BPR7ES are great. That's what I've always used

I've noticed less knock voltage with the non-protruding plugs.

BR7ES instead of BPR7ES
BR8ES instead of BPR8ES

but hey, that's just me.

Theory is that since the non-protruding versions have the ceramic tucked into the body of the plug, it is shielded from heat more. I didn't think it would make a huge difference until I logged and saw less knock voltage. Not a huge difference, but noticable on the logs.

True, I got them on my GST and work nicely.

Just got the Evo a couple months ago, so haven't checked what they have. I'm sure they're stock since it's only got 12K miles on it, but the BPR7ES are going in next.
