My Dyno #'s on my Evo 8. Dyno pack 1500miles on OD.

Take these number for what they are worth. Dan from godspeed dynoed it.

My best #'s were.

240.6 Wheel hp
252.8 Wheel Torque

As for my breakin it's under 5 grand till 600mi. Seldomly ran hard till 1000mi. Changed oil at 1000 miles. Ran pretty hard and now 1500 miles. The car kept giving me more hp and my best runs were with IC spray on after the engine is very warm.

My 3 runs with IC spray off.

You can see the first run was the slowest due to the engine not up to temperture. The car ran fastest warm.

Yeah sunoco 94 of course

My torque looks good at 3500 rpms peak. I have no idea why Shiv's dyno showed 4000 rpms for peak torque? Perhaps an oil change, higher milage, and broken in with sunoco 94 brought more agressive ignition timing? Whichever i'll find out on the 1/4 track if i do go tommarrow

Someone mentioned that the peak torque was different on shivs because his dyno wasnt set correctly.

I dont know much about dynos, but it would seem to me that those numbers would indicate that the car is making more than 271hp at the crank. Is that reasonable to assume, or are all dynos pretty much worhtless as far as actual numbers, but instead are used to define a baseline to judge changes in set-up against. But even then would the numbers not change quite a lot depending on ambiant temperature and humidaty, ect?

Just trying to undersand all this

Michael

Hey gtr your dyno numbers are really impressive! What figures (dyno numbers) does a stock wrx produce on that dyno.

Yeah, it looks too impressive to be good. I'll definitly let everyone know about this after i find out. However trap speed on 1/4mi will show true hp from any car.

Oh yeah i rememeber davd busher ran 260 wheel horspower on 2wd dynojet so perhaps 240 would not be unreasonable for midwest cars? Who else form the midwest dyno their evos with good gas? Well i guess i'm comparing apples to oranges so hopfully the weather is nice tommarrow for track testing.

Hmmm..the latest SCC article on "24 hours with EVO" chronicles a days worth of testing and racing an EVO with only 202 miles on the odo to begin with(so much for break-in eh?).

One of the things they do is to stop at HKS for a Dyno session on the Dynojet AWD dyno. They saw 240hp and 254ftlbs of torque. Sounds pretty damn similar to the numbers you and Dan/Godspeed logged.

I believe Vivid recently logged a 234hp dyno run as well so the numbers sound pretty reasonable to me. A 15% driveline loss would put you at around 276 crankhp which is pretty believable on 94 octane fuel.

Thanks for sharing your info gtr!!
BTW, is Dan still planning on getting the STi or have you convinced him to convert to an EVO?

Drivetrain loss is more than 15% on awd though..more like 24%.

Thats debateable. I have heard everything from 15-25% for AWD loss from different sources. The figure I have always used for rwd was 8-10% loss. It may be more like 17-19% for an AWD, but I find anything over 20% hard to believe.

As a Syclone owner I follow the forum at sportmachines and most of the Sy guys feel that the 20% numbers are high. Again, its debateable as is everything.
