oh hey guys, is the 9 better then the 8?

i heard that the 9 has a new thing that gives it more power but it makes it a little harder to modify, i forgot what its called though

 

If you gotta save money, dont buy cheap parts for a new IX. I dont think the newer Ix is harder to modify because of MIVEC, maybe it is...internally, like cams, pistons but hey simple bolt-ons are a breeze from what i've seen on the write-ups.

The 8 and 9 are great cars, but the 9 has a little more potential since they introduced the mivec . You won't be disappointed if you go with 8 or 9. Good luck man and stay safe, tune safe, and boost happy!

 

Please please please buy one of the other cars. No offense, but you dont seem like you know anything about the Evo, other than you want one. "Is the 9 better than the 8?" "the 9 has a new thing that makes more power?" Its called MIVEC, and its a cam with mutiple profiles to change valve lift depending on engine speed.

The reason I say dont buy the Evo is people who dont know the car before they buy it end up getting rid of it, because they dont know about or are unwilling to make the compromises that must be made to live with an Evo. Rough ride, costly service, premium fuel needs (why cant people stop *****ing and pay an extra 20 cents a gallon), as well as other common complaints that people voice. Please research this purchase, this car requires a much more attentive owner.

 

I don't see the choice up there, but I'm still going to recommend it...

IMHO GET THE EVO! I crapped on a vette, 350z, supra, and sti. All those cars are inferior to the evo in well roundedness. The evo for sure will crap on those cars in a drag. The only way the supra will win is if its on a freeway. I have beaten a c5 vette on the freeway. I know this site doesnt advocate street racing but I am just being truthful to help this individual out in his choice.

Are you high? Do you really believe an Evo will match up with a Z06 or a respectfully moded Supra on a drag strip with out SUBSTANTIAL mods? Someone ran a 12.1 in a stock Z06 the other day, can't remember where but I'll look for the video. I also work with a guy with a 94 TT supra. He's putting down around 500whp with very conserative mods and racing gas. I like my Evo and all but it's not by any means the king of all cars.

 

I own a 97tt supra and I have 3 friends with vettes. I know the capabilities for each car. Dollar for dollar pound for pound the evo is the best car on the market. This car is definitely one of the top 10 productions cars under 30grand.

Stock for stock the evo WILL beat any tt supra in a drag. It will beat any vette in a drag(except for maybe the new c6).

I would first know your cars before you come off like you are high on crack.

So honestly, do you think that an 06 Evo IX out of the box will beat an 06 Z06?

 

EVO: amazing.
STI: if your modding when you hit like 350 whp you have to start to spend serious $ to get more.
SUPRA: very expensive to do anything to.
350Z: one of the mags. just did a bolt on / dyno test they spent $1400 and made like 20 whp and 15 tq max...i think it was a lil less
corvette very expensive to do anything to.


all are amazing cars, im surpeised s2000 isn't in the bunch but i think best bang for the buck is the evo

 

not even close: the new Z06 goes 11.7 out of the box, you will be at least 1-1.5 seconds behind in the quarter.

 

You just had to say why a s2k isnt in there, let me tell you, because the s2k isnt on the same playing field as all those other cars.
These cars are in the major league, while s2k is still playnig highschool ball.

 

I saw one guy running 11.2 bone stock. They are thinking 10's are possible on drag slicks.
