Sano, How were you launching the car? How did the clutch feel on the way home?

was the wrx stock? because if it was, than of course you are going to walk on it. 227hp vs 271 ....hmmmm, pretty easy to figure that out.

if it was not stock, than the driver was not that good at the 1/4. i don't know why everyone gets off trying to compare the EVO to the wrx. it isnt really a great match up......

I made a big deal about it beacause all the dyno talk is saying that we don't have that much over the wrx, and that the sti is out of the evo's league. They were saying that the evo was made to battle the wrx, and the sti is for the mythical ralli art version. Supposedly the evo is losing somthing like 100 hp on the dyno, making it not much more powerful at the wheels than the wrx.

I don't care if this car is putting down 100 hp at the wheels, it still halls *****. and the wrx should go race civics.
Dude you ran a 14.54 (not your best). The wrx ran a 14.69 (maybe not his best?). Maybe he had a bad start. It took you a few runs before you got it right.

Hi,

Stock WRX's do not run in the mid 13's irregardless of the driver. Shiv's original release that the stock EVO makes only 20 more HP than a stock WRX has become urban legend although he qualified it to 91 octane users. However, the whole story never makes it out and is giving WRX owners false hope. Which is good if you go to the track and race for money.

I am not saying the wrx was stock, Maybe it was not. Maybe he had a bad run. If it was stock, then the evo will run circles around it any day.

I agree, doesn't matter if the WRX did have a bad run to hit that 14.69 or not, it ain't gonna TOUCH an EVO!!
What do stock WRX's run anyways? My Bimmer hits mid 14s, and I've never raced a WRX becaue I thought they were faster, maybe I should reconsider!

This is congruent with what I know of WRXs. Although the guy driving it could have done better, low 14s is about as good as they can get without extremely good (and destructive) driving. My WRX with a turboback exhaust ran mid 14s at 96-98-7 mph. It just can't do more with the HP/ weight ratio and driveline losses. The EVO pwer to weight ratio is much better. I fully expect to run in the 13s when I go to the dragstrip.... Granted, my driving leaves a lot to be desired, but I still can have fun ..........

Im glad Evos are becoming 1/4 mile queens......Catch any sarcasm there??? Oh yea, I know I can rest easier knowing your a ripped 150 lbs....

Straight line speed is all fun and good, but the EVO is gonna outrun many cars in the turns, which is what its made for, a totally balanced streetable rally car. If ya want a straight line rocket, look elsewhere....

Hey, go easy on the sarcasm man, there is nothing wrong with enjoying the 1/4 mile runs with whatever car you got...... there is no law that says you can't run a 1/4 mile with an AWD turbocharged car.... Oh yeah, there is no law that says you can't take turns fast in a Mustang Cobra either..... Everybody has the right to enjoy their EVO (or whatever) without getting slammed for it

Peace,

Manuel

I am pretty sure the "ripped" comment was meant to be funny. But I guess serious auto sportsman don't have a sense of humor?

"Im glad Evos are becoming 1/4 mile queens......Catch any sarcasm there???" This coming from a guy who has a whopping 120hp under his belt. I guess one can say if you want your car to accelerate or turn well look elsewhere then a Lancer OZ

Uh oh....there is my sarcasm in action again...

I don't know if you have luanched much but the thing is tricky. I was so worried about bogging and missing second that I was very happy not doing either. I was playing it safe with the luanch though. I had it at 6000rpm and basically feathered it out. I also let completely off the gas to shift to second every run(just not comfortable yet). But thats my point I can clean my run up to 13.4 I am almost certain.

I don't honestly think you can drop it. Every time I dropped it from 6000 it bogged. I had MUCH better results realeasing it semi slowly. I never once burnt the clutch or had any problems going home.(When I went in my prelude sh I could not get it in 1st or reverse after 5 trips down the drag) It held up A+++++++

Good for you and your open mind, Im sorry but I cannot be open to people who talk all big. Yea, I have 120 hp, on a Lancer that I could afford. I never brought up my car at all, so why are you? My car does turn well for a econobox, and I have fun autocrossing it. Wanna turn this into a flame war, go right ahead. You sir can take your EVO and shove it........
