Got busted tonight for speeding, changing lane w/o signaling, etc etc.....

Well guys tonight is the first time I got pulled over in the EVO . When I had my SRT4 it didnt happen, but tonight I was out cruising throughout Long Island and part of Queens, just killing time.

I was hungry so I was planning on stopping by White Castles on Queens Blvd. to get some burgers and some o-rings, but instead decided to take a chance to make some food at home to save a few bucks from eating out.

Anyhows, I get onto Woodhaven Blvd to head back towards my neighborhood...traffic was moderate and I was in the fast lane just coasting along when a car with PA plates just decides to go in the fast lane in front of me and this other lady and just drive like 20-30 mph....when normally cars usually do 45-50 easlily down this road.

Anyhow I'm getting annoyed by this lady holding up myself and all the cars in the fast lane in front of me so when I had the opportunity I switched to the middle lane (w/o signaling) and took off. As I passed her (out of frustration) I beeped my horn at her.

Coasting down Woodhaven Blvd as usual.... a cop pulls out of nowhere and gets behind me and turns on his mini lights.... I ignored it since I was getting into the turning lane anyway, but he was still behind me and turned his lights off. In my mind I was like I didnt do anything wrong and I wasnt speeding or doing anything reckless....

Anyhow when the green arrow came on for me to turn I make my turn and the cop turns on his full flashers... I was like okay... here we go, time to assume the position to be grilled.
So I pull over onto the sidewalk as to not block traffic, turned on all my interior lights, rolled down my windows, put my car keys on the roof and made my hands visible by resting them on the steering wheel.

The officer approaches my car and the dialouge goes like this:

officer: driver license, registration, and insurance card please
me: sure here they are

The cop then takes his flashlight out and starts checking all my tags and shines his light throughout my interior. I'm thinking to myself I hope he didnt smell my catless exhaust from a mile away and bust me for that too... but anyhow I tell him

me: I hope you dont give me a ticket cuz that will screw me over big time on my insurance
officer: Hows your driving record and dont B/S me!!!!
me: my record has been spotless for the past few years, you can run my license
officer: why did you put your car keys on the roof?
me: well, I put the keys on the roof and turned on all my lights so that you'll feel more comfortable approaching the car...plus if my car keys are on the roof I'm not going to run away.
officer: well, firstly you're driving a car that draws a lot of attention. I see that it has an exhaust and saw that you changed lanes w/o signaling, you beeped at the lady going slow in the fast lane, plus you were zooming down the woodhaven blvd like it was a racetrack.....
me: you're right, i got a bit annoyed at the lady that was blocking traffic , and that I didnt signal, but I wasnt intending to race like a reckless madman down the blvd.... my apologies, I didnt mean to be disrespectful ....
officer: okay, I'm gonna run your license and papers and if its clear then its all good.
me: okay, thanks..

Moments later, after running my license and papers etc, he comes back to me and says have a good night, drive safely.!!!!

All in all I got lucky. I sure didnt want to get written up for speeding, changing lanes w/o signaling, or beeping my horn at a lady going 30 or so in the fast lane...it sure would have screwd me over on insurance big time ... anyhow,
what I've learned is to be humble and apologetic to the officer, admit your mistakes, feed his ego, dont try to be a wise guy, and ask for a break.....

Overall this is the 2nd ticket I talked my way out of, not to brag but I got lucky.

Anyways, the cops says that I'm driving a car that draws alot of attention and that he saw my exhaust..... now I'm gonna be thinking harder of either spray painting my exhaust can a high temperature black and leave the tip chrome/stainless.... but other than that I cant do anything else about the exterior of my car since its OEM anyways....

Flame suit on.... bring on the comments good and bad....

You are lucky, i get pulled over for a blinker and get a ticket. Well i guess i got away once when i was tunning the car with the safcII. I was making my pulls in 3rd getting up to high 80s and the cop popped me. I just told him I was tunning the car. He did the usuall (running the paper work) came back didn't give me a ticket and just ended up talking to me about the car for 20 min. I guess he was in the market to buy one.

Thats funny.... and the crazy thing is, I'm always usually aware of whats going on around me in traffic.... i also know how cops can be far behind you and at the same time be watching/pacing you...waiting for you to do something stupid then pull you over. But anyhow I got pulled over at night so I guess this cop flew underneath my radar.....

I watched that california police training video on street racing.....and even if the cop asked me to pop the hood, my engine bay looks stock anyway, even though I'm putting out a lot of power...
