My buddy Ivo who owns Renner Motorsports in Los Angeles has a side exit test pipe which he uses for the track on his Evo. He also made one for my friends WRX as seen in the photo below.

All i can say is both cars were EXTREMELY loud. I could hear the 350whp WRX clear as day even when he was at the far opposite end of Spring Mountain Raceway.

heres the issue: you put in the side exhaust, but then you have a a rear bumper with an exhaust cutout with nothing there..

bottoming out or scraping might be an issue too. not to mention how loud it would be

Well this is track use only. No way could you drive this thing on city streets without every cop within 5 miles hearing you. He drove the car on the track for two days straight and when we removed it to put his 3" Greddy exhaust back on, the sidepipe had not a single scratch. Which suprised us because there are a few spots at spring mountain raceway where there are abrupt elevation changes. One drop can send you airborne if you are running too fast through it. Usually you'd lose traction and do some sliding, only to stomp the gas and regain your grip.
