Dealer Markup: too high?!?

I went to the stealership today to see what they had in stock.. I'm looking preferably for a IX MR, but at this price..I'm not sure if it's worth it. (I see MRs going for 31,XXX in California) What do you guys think?? not to mention this one doesn't even have a sunroof. Here's the picture -

The salesmen tell me all this BS about nitrogen filled tires and pinstripes etc. Anyone in FL that knows of a good dealer with MSRP or below prices?

Tell them they can shove that price up there asses, do not buy for over MSRP, in fact, don't buy unless they offer you AT LEAST +500 over invoice

I stoped at a local dealer to get some crush washers. They wanted me to trade in on a IX MR they had there he told me hed give me the ultimate deal 35.5k +TTL. I was like man you better do a hell of alot better than that. That I can get one at the least 2k cheaper. He told me that was imposible so I e-mailed him the link. No response yet . In other words 39k is nuts that market adjustment %$#t is crap.

LOL! $199.00 for nitrogen in the tires!?!

That takes the cake for most ridiculous mark up add on eclipsing undercoating, "lifetime paint protection," and window etching as the biggest rippoffs ever.

There is some tire chain that fills your tires with Nitrogen for free (Costco maybe??).

Even if you add in the shipping costs from CA to FL, you would still save nearly $7000 by buying from South Coast.

Thing is I want to trade my car in..it'd be more of a hassle buying from SCM - if anything I'll look elsewhere, but I'm going to show them how much cheaper I can get one and see what they say. Waiting's no issue either.

MRs do not come with a sunroof because they're aluminum. You should look into one of the dealerships from CA and have what you want shipped over. I've read numerous posts of people receiving their cars in perfect condition.

wow I am going to rush down there and buy all of their mr and over priced evo. And then go home and run myself over with each of the cars I purchased. How greedy can a dealership get. I mean 1000-2000 over MSRP I can see. You should offer your car, house, family members as indentured servants, both *********, first and second born children, and see what they have to say.

There are two for sale in texas on EBAY brand new IX MR, for 33,900. A white one and a red one. You could fly out to texas and pick it up, and by the time you get back it should be broke in, thats what I would do.

thanks for the suggestions - realistic or not

actually I'm not planning on buying it right now, but in a couple months. Once I'm settled in with the new job and school then I will go ahead and start negotiating - just wanted to see how the prices were down here That is indeed an awesome deal in Texas..would definitely fly over and break it in on my way home if I could.

Dude, go to Stuart and talk to Rob Doelker, he may be over at the VW place, but he is worth tracking down. Tell him Jason said to look you up, he'll give you a great deal.

Then drive your Evo by Kendall and show them your paperwork
