So this might be true for the U.S also.

The Evo IX actually has a real output of about 320 PS (315 hp).
honda was the first to break the agreement with in introduction of the RL with 300hp (read in an auto magazine), that's why there are cars coming out of japan with more than 276 hp now and soon to be like the new skyline, supra and nsx.

i beleive their is some sort of standard in america, suposedly to my knowledge the government will not let a japanese car make horrendous power from a factory, but a american car pushing 500 plus is alright??

Five and a half horsepower...depends on which Dyno though.

But with all my upgrades, I have 22,867.404 Ferret Power. What an upgrade!

would it be better to have an overated car that might carry higher insurance as a result.. I cant imagine insuring a 330hp red car with a giant wing on it thats primarily built for racing.

I have an 05. The specs say 276 HP. If I have more, then by gar I want to know it. It's a lot more fun to tell people that I have 290 or 300 HP, than "a little shy of 280".

That's nonsense. All cars sold in the US are power rated by the same SAE standard tests.

The first and only valid post. Well put. About the hp levels, the ix has 310 plus crank hp stock for sure.

Yep. 252whp/243wtq bone stock IX on a Mustang Dyno. This particular Mustang reads closer to a dynojet though than Buschur's MD for example. Based on other baselines on the same dyno (STi putting down in the 240s), we estimated the IX to be around 310-320 at the crank.
