OMG .... DO you think my insurance will cover this???

So I moved back to IL from CO. I was driving home thru Nebraska yesterday and as some of you may know a huge 2 day snow storm just went thru there. Well my Evo is seriously seriously messed up. Here is the run down.

In Nebraska they use sand/gravel for the roads, highway 80 was shut down for 18 hours so there was 2 days worth of trucks/cars on the highway, my car took an absolute pounding.

The headlights are totally destroyed with chips

Here is the FMIC, Notice the once black grill no longer has any finish and all the fins are smashed in.

The radiator, same scenario w/ the grill. ABout 33% of the fins are destroyed.

The area where the "specks" are most dense in how the entire windshield is, you can see part of the crack on the drivers side. The windshield has a 3 foot crack in it starting right in the drivers field of view and going across the middle, another 1 foot crack going top to bottom, and literally thousands of deeply pitted rock chips.

Here is the Front bumper up close, this is what the entire hood, mirrors, lower door panels, and front bumper look like. The front bumper feels like heavy grit sandpaper when you run your hand across it. It is damaged beyond repair and needs to be replaced.

From what I can tell the FMIC needs to be replaced, the radiator need to be replaced, the headlights need to be replaced, the windshield needs to be replaced, and the entire front end of the car needs to be repainted.

I am at a loss for words right now, I had no idea the damage was this bad until I washed my car

I left colorado Monday at 3pm, I arrived in North Platte, NE at 7:30 pm, Got a hotel room, and had to wait until 3pm yesterday for them to open the highway, this happened yesterday during the remainder of the drive. I would have waited it out but I had several obligations I had to meet back home today.

I wasn't aware they used sand and gravel as salt in NE, this happened right when I got on the highway.

Me in the left lane with about 1000 feet between me and the car in front of me, semis in the right lane, many cars right behind me, I got cut off by a semi and was stuck behind it for at least 10 miles, I backed off at least 1000 feet but the rocks were flying from everywhere, cars in the right lane, in front of me, etc, I had no choice at that point, I was trapped.

Assuming you have full coverage, you'll probably get it covered minus your deductible. I drove through a tornado, at least very close to it, in college park, maryland a few years go. My eclipse required almost a complete repaint plus a new hood and a new fender. I had pulled off the side of the road. Insurance paid for it.

Hail damage was covered by many insurance companies. just give them a call.
I think it is time to upgrade for your evo. get Race FMIC and radiator plus JDM headlights. Oh get the carbon fiber hood and cwest bumpers and fenders also.

That totally sucks. Welcome to Nebraska. :| They love to sand around here. I punished a rental on a trip to Colorado two weekends ago. The left lane of I-80 east of Cheyenne was snow-pack, and I was getting pelted by ice, slush, and sand, the whole time thinking: thank God I'm not in my EVO.

I was thinking I'd like to take the opprotunity to upgrade some of those things, however I don't think my insurance company is going to pay for an AMS front mount, a Koyo radiator, and a body kit, i'd be willing to pay the difference between stock cost vs. aftermarket cost

As I found out they do love their sand, and they love to have rocks mixed in just for fun, no offense to you but between being stuck in North Platte for a day and the fact it took them forever and a day to open the highway, NE is on my crap list right now!

Well Nebraska does suck... We do also use salt,,,,,,,,, if you ever had a chance to look at the streets here after a slight snow storm,,,,,,, the streets are WHITE for weeks after. Its all crush salt pellets....... It eats the top layer of my driveway,,, eats and eats it.

Tons of salt........not good for the car either......

Hope you get your car back to where you want it.

After this experience I'd rather drive in salt! I am also going to get a clear bra on my car, something I should have done from the get go.
