Ok I'm in the process of searching for an intake for my Evo and came across this:

I don't believe this as many of you say adding intake will not increase HP! Is this a scam? How many of you have this?

Injen makes the claim of "up to" 22hp gain with their Evo intake, and posted a dyno sheet of a stock Evo running only their intake:

Who knows if it's true? You may not see 22hp gains, but I'd be willing to bet you'll get some gain.

intake with TUNE will make hp...if you do some search, there are many threads about it..

I used this intake in a past car and I can say it will add power, although the "22hp" is an addition to one part of the curve. I am sure overall you would see not much more than 10.

I did talk to Injen directly about this intake and their dyno sheet was with no tuning. Just a before and after of their system. IN my honest opinion I would run this intake over many others and if given the money to purchase the same equipment again I would purchase the injen stuff. The fit, performance, and "bling" is unlike anythign else for the price you pay.

don't believe the hype...most vendors lie when it comes to numbers. Like someone said, 20whp gain if there's a tune in the process

ok ok people on my car right off the bat no tuneing after i put the intake in my car it only gave me 11hp now after a street tune i got 23hp with it to this day its still on my car.

and adding to that the dyno pulls where done on the same day 35 mins apart.

i didnt feel too much on an increase. but then again the car hasnt been dynoed yet. but as from what i heard you feel the increase after you have a flash or tune

DSport magazine had a project evo with some intake/exhaust mods not tuned and it gained horsepower with the intake, but only from like 6500+ RPM, it lost power everywhere else in the powerband until they put a Power FC on it and tuned.

I have the injen intake/uicp and when I installed it I felt like the car lost some power in the low rpm's. When I got it tuned; however, it felt stronger throughout the powerband.

i believe Buschur used this intake in one of his case studies, i believe he said it gained 11whp with a tune. dont quote me tho, it is on these forums and ive read it once(after i got my AEM, lol)

The key to that whole intake idea, is getting your car tuned for it afterward. It won't make jack without you getting it tuned. (well, nothing noticable other than it will not run as smooth) But then you need to get someone that knows what they're doing to tune it. (read into that whatever you like)

You'll spend some real money to get a quality part, and then you need to weigh out the cost vs the returns. It's not worth it to buy a cheap junk one. But for me, the cost of the intakes outway their marginal benefits. That's if they have any. You're going to be better off spending your money on something that actually makes power. If you've already done cams, cam gears, exhaust, flash/piggyback/standalone, manifold, etc. Then I would consider it, because the only other things you can do are going to cost you big $$ by that point.

As far as the 22hp, under IDEAL conditions (read adjusting the correction factors to favor you in the dyno software) you MIGHT see that at the crank, never at the wheels. That is unless you're talking a big turbo car on speed density.
