To the point I think Az3ar is really getting at, I have a feeling that the money spent on advertising is well spent here. Many of the Evom members knew nothing of DSM history (some not even import history) as a huge segment of Evo owners on Evom came from Hondas (Type R/S2000) Nissans (300zx, 350Z, 240sx) Toyotas (Supra MKIII, MKIV) BMW (M Cars), Chevy (Cameros, C5's) Ford (Mustang, Cobras), etc, etc.

I really don't think a few of the vendors, nor the crap starters realize how much business has gone both ways through Evom. I'd be willing to bet that a poll would show most Evo owners never owned a DSM now. The US Evo has started it's own legacy of sorts...

Hand in hand, those members who think they don't need certain Vendors here are SADLY mistaken. I too have noticed the decline in good tech info on this site over the last two weeks. Two vendors who DO NOT get along contribute a lot of interesting info. I just wish for our sake, my sake, that people could get pasted all the personal BS and do what they do best. I'm personally dis-interested in ANYONE's personal opinion driven by a dislike for whoever. There are some great minds who participate here... a lot of the crap on EvoM could be avoided by them... all the little cronies pushing buttons... well, those can be taken care of easily enough.

The above post might at first seem off topic... but in reality, I think not so much as it may appear.

I honestly didn't know of quite a few of those vendors before joining this site. I would have found them eventually any way you look at it though, because they all cator to the car I own. That's how it works.

I like what you have to say here in the end about the "cronies who push buttons", I feel that they have become a major problem both in terms of managing the flow of information and in thwarting the ability to conduct a dialouge in a peaceful manner.

As Mr. Buschur has pointed out yesterday he and I have been given a "final warning" and he expressed and I agree that such a status has put a real damper on our passion for active participation on these forums.

While I will continue to participate here, I do so with great reservation and caution as I have been warned that any infraction of the rules will result in a permenant ban which I certainly do not want.

The bottom line is the so called "cronies" (your choice of word) have little or nothing to loose in being banned from these forums. They can just sign up under a new screen name as they frequently do and continue the same style of posting.

This forum is a private enterprize and I respect the decisions of the administration and will follow the instructions I have been given.

Al,

I'm interested in everyone working things out here... I'd hoped more of my thoughts were received in that statement than just "the end about the "cronies who push buttons". I speak on occasion to all three of you guys... and I believe you three have much more to contribute than take away. However, like in the real working man's world, people are quick to forget your accomplishments, and quicker still to condemn you for your failures.

I think it will be interesting results if people fill out the poll correctly. Hell, I've already screwed up my vote forgetting to check the boxes of all the vendors I've never heard of before Evom, 'bout all of them. I just checked hearing of Buschur alone in error.

To quote the uncle in Spiderman... "with great power comes great responsibility..."

I do respect that as vendors we carry a greater responsibility to conduct ourselves in a a maner which sets a positive example and tone for the forums

I have certainly been guilty of breaking the rules by name calling and such on many occassions. At the same time there have been a huge number of attacks and negative comments which have been asserted by the so called 'cronies' to which you refer over and over again which cause a lot of stress and wasted time on my behalf to respond to. After hundreds and hundreds of similar inflamatory comments by the same individuals it becomes difficult to restrain one's self.

Similarly. I have been rather upset wih the practice of some vendors using creative means to go around the rules and make attacks on other vendors products. Such methods utilize not identifying particular fellow members by name but still bashing their product or service (in a manner which clearly identifies the vendor which is the subject of the attcak) - or - framing the bashing or attack as a technical discussion.

I have been suggesting for some time that there ought to be a rule enforced that a paying vendor on these forums is NOT allowed to bash, attack or crituiqe another paying vendor's product or service - period. This type of poilcy would eliminate 90% of the negative and toxic debates that exist on this forum, especially if the ban would be also applied to the notorious 'conies' or ardent supporters of record.

I really think that 99% of the problem posts on our forums eminate from the same 30 bad apple 'cronies" who have seemed to make this kind of vendor to vendor internet drama a hobby.

Frankly, to say that vendors must not use swear words against each other - but can be allowed to craft nicely worded attacks upon each other does little to resolve the problem as I see it. It is certainly possible to say something just as bad about someone with nice words as you can with swear words.

I am glad that you have expressed some intention to resolve "the problem" what ever it is . . . . I am giving you my own personal opinion of what I think the problem is

Keep in mind, I stand firmly behind the theory that this is a private forum and all players must play by the directives of the adminstration or leave

This is why I am following the instructions I have been given

I think I'm going to start another poll. I'll call it the "did you know you could have this many different poll options when making a poll", poll.

just to give clear instructions:

you need to answer each question in order for this poll to be accurate... don't just choose the vendor you knew, choose all the ones you knew and choose the one you did not know before evom..

I heard about all of these before I found this site. First because a buddy of mine got an EVO in 03' and told me about a lot of these tuners. Second when I was researching the car I wound up on a lot of these sites. Third a lot of car magazines had articles and advertisments. Needless to say I'm glad I found this site it helps me broden my knowledge of the EVO everyday, and plus it's something to do at work when were slow.
