sorry no pics , no dig cam!

This is off topic, but I couldn't help but notice your gauge above the shifter. Do you have any closer pics of that and descriptions of the install?
Thanks!

2cool, when and where did you get your car? How come my dash trim is different in color form your's. your's look like aluminum and mine look like dark grey?
Jemm, i guess you could always go smaller and make brakets. Look on my vehicle to see how the stereo is fitted on my door. The rear was done the same way.

Here's what I have and am going to install. NO need for CDs or MP3's on disks!! Basically a removeable hard drive unit for you car that has its own O/S and can be plugged into your PC via IDE or USB.
I havent picked up the car yet, but these are my intentions when I do.
Kenwood eXcelon 715 head
Sub Amp
Interior Speakers
Aditional set of QWD 160's for the rear interior
DEI 4500 4 channel interior amp
2 10" JL W6v2 subs
I already own most of the equipment listed, my only question is will the 1 inch tweeter w/ the QSD's fit in the factory speaker locations? I've already read that sqeezing a 6.5 into the car isnt a problem... just want to know how much work will have to be done to the car to make it all fit??

Speaker size is a confirmed 6.5. The hole is larger, bot no popular company actually makes an oversized speaker (cone size). There are some that have oversized mounting brackets though. The depth for the front speakers is minimum. The actual cone material of the speaker is paper with a rubber surround. These are generic speakers as with any other OEM setup, including Bose. Upgrading speakers will suffice most, but to get good sound, additional power should be used. Spacers will be needed to put most high end speakers to clear the window. For my MB Quarts I used 1/2 inch spacers to accomodate.
Tweeter mount will accomodate almost anything on the market, most can be attached using OEM hardware.
As far as sound entering the cabin, even thought the seats don'f fold down, sound still enters the cabin fine. I am running 1 12" sub and it sounds great. Not much trunk rattle with rear facing sub either. Care must be taken when removing door sills, due to the "newness" of the car they will be tight and may break away from the panel pin. One broke on mine, but I was able to fuse it together with a soldering iron.
The radio will either fit in din or iso din. ISO din will reuire trim pieces (approx 1/8 inch) The radio does not fit flush, but to accomodate that, one can drill holes approx 1/2 back in bracket. I chose not to due to the shape and motorization of my head unit. Pictures of my interim setup can be seen below. Anyone needing detailed info, just ask.
Check out my setup in the registry

Alpine 7863 CD headunit
MB Qaurt Premium components (front)
Boston RM6 Coax (Rear fill)
JL Audio 500.5 (100x2 front, 25x2 back, and 250x1 for sub)
Kicker Solobaric "12 sub in a 2.5 cubic ft ported box
Stinger cap
Monster IC's
System is extremely clean, loud, and the "12 sub slams but is not overkill!

machomachacho ... THANKS MAN! I've owned many systems so do not have trouble finding the best components for my $. The Qaurts are crisp and clean with a nice extended top end, while the Bostons in the back add some extra mid bass. Thge JL AMP is super clean with a very conservative power rating (the sub actually kicks out close to 400 real watts from the sub channel). And we all know about the performance of the Solobarics. Here is a pic of my trunk ... space is still there but the box is easy to remove if I desire .... weight is between 30-40 extra lbs. but like I said, I can remove it easily when I visit the track, or need more trunk space for something. Here's a pic ... click and scroll down to the last pic.
