tranny swap

anyone tried swapping out the 5 spd for the 6 spd? is it possible? i know, i know, anything can be done with the right amount of money, but without major mods cand it be done? im thinking of putting the 6 spd in the rs.

yes a couple of people have done it.
you just need the shifter base, shifter cables, shifter and the trans its self.
ohh and i think the clutch is different, but i am not sure.

The 6 speed is even weaker than the 5 speed why would you want to do this??

prove it. or is that what you've "heard". do a search and see how many people have problems with their weak 6-speeds! doesn't the FQ-400 that comes with a warranty have a weak 6-speed in it? anyway, back on topic, TRE sells a complete kit to swap it out. it's www.teamrip.com.

thats what ive been told by many people to, of coarse yeah i dont know if its true, but even people with MR's have admited its a weaker trans

as soon as i can see some solid evidence for these false claims maybe i'll believe you. most of us are never going to have enough wheel hp to see the strength difference between these trannies IMO. there are some fast drag MR's that run the weak 6-speed still.

the reason why i want to do this is the same as to why i prefer a 5 speed over a 4 speed.
