Please help: blow off valve question

I have a 05 EVO RS stock except for a AEM short ram intake tube. My question is that i want the blow off valve to be louder, but i still want to keep it internal. Are there any BOV models that will be louder than the stock one, or should i not even bother. If there is which model? And also if i wanted to go to the external dump, what mods do you have to make to correct the rich/lean problems and how much $$. Thanks guys Cobranski

Just about every aftermarket BOV is louder then stock, even if you recirculate because you have an open filter and the sound comes out of that.

You will need a custom O2 housing to do an external dump on an internally gated stock turbo - or you can weld the flapper, get a new manifold and put an external wastgate there. You are looking at anywhere between $300-$800.

You've already made a big mistake by doing an intake as your first mod. You can't run an intake without a tune, and it's not worth the money for the gains anyway. Secondly, if the BOV isn't loud enough now that you have an intake, then I don't know what to tell you. My BOV is extremely loud even though it's 100% recirculating now that I have the Buschur air filter (only got it after cams and alky). Your BOV should now be very loud, but even if it isn't, why do you care? The BOV's purpose is to hold boost efficiently, not to make noise. You have an Evo RS, which is a purpose-built race car. It's purpose is not to make dumb noises that do not help the car go faster.

When you say "internal" and "external," what do you mean? Those terms are only relevant to the wastegate, not the BOV. We have internal wastegates, and you would only go to an external if you got a huge turbo running big boost. With the BOV, you either get recirculating (like stock and the only method that is proper) or vent-to-atmosphere (VTA, which is bad for your Evo). If this is what you meant, then no, there is no way to run VTA BOV on your Evo unless you replace the MAF with a speed density system using a standalone like AEM EMS (or MAFTPro).

You should be concentrating on mods that actually help your car run better, make more power, and perform the way an Evo is meant to perform. Doing mods only to make stupid noises that make you SOUND faster while actually making your Evo SLOWER are just recommended. Please reconsider your modding choices...

If the orginal poster wants to sound like a ricer and doesn't know any better then someone needs to have the decency to help a fellow EVO owner out.

contrary to porular belief if u want to go to a VTA style of BOV then HKS makes a device for the evos that stops the mass air flow meter from going nuts. its called the EIDS i think or somethign to that tune. but as "bluntly" as wartalon put it he is right to a extent. my personal theory is its your money and your car so do with it as you want. just next time use the search button and try that a way other wise ole warrtallon will take his flame thrower out and go to town on you vietnam style

just my .02

HAHAHAHA....funny actually, 2F2F was on TV just the other night, and i noticed that the EVO doesnt make the VTA sound. so if anybody says the EVO in that movie sounds like that they have no idea what theyre talking about.
