Ok guys the latest update....Just got back from vacation and I'm ready to wheel and deal on evo mr or a lexus is 350 306hp. Gonna go to the Mitsubishi dealership tommorrow, and show them the south-coast Flyer which advertizes Evo mr's for $32,999. If he can't match that price or come close to it, then Im gonna buy a lexus IS-350 306hp rwd V-6- 0-60mph 5.0 seconds and alot more car (luxury) for the about the same price. I was contemplating having the Evo mr shipped from South Coast Mitsubishi--west to east coast, but I'm leary about waiting for a car to be delivered. Tell me what you think... all opinions welcomed ....thanks

I am a real driver @ heart, but I'm also a realist, it makes no sense to pay 6k more for the same car, and if i can't trade in my eclipse to south coast, whats the point....also the other choice is to fly out to cali and drive the evo mr back over 3000 miles with no cruise control..and then sell my eclipse outright, (not gonna happen). I'm afraid the reality is, the only hope of and evo mr is for the dealership to match the price...which i doubt he will do. I will keep you posted..... guys thanks for your responses!

I'm slightly confused. If they don't come close to the price, you are going to turn around and buy a more expensive car?

The lexus Is 350 is about 35k here locally and the Evo mr here is 38k.......so no is the answer to your question. The lexus costs less and is only 7 tenths slower then the evo with alot more reliabilty and luxury, so i'm saying that if i can buy an evo mr for 32,999 on the west coast, why would i buy it here for 38k. So my second choice (the lexus), will become my 1st choice if i cant get the evo here for $32, 999.00

You can negotiate. It doesnt have to be either 32,999 or 38. It can be in between for a few dollars more or less the price of the lexus. I feel you have doubts about the evo. If you really loved the evo then you'd do anything to get it. But... it's all up to you.

Well to be frank, i think i may be graduating to a more sophisticated level of performance. I just turned 43 last thursday, and i have had high performance cars all my driving life. Suddenly the appeal of luxury + performance is looking better and better. I dont doubt the evo, what i doubt is whether i want to drive a hard edge car every day, the evo is a race car no doubt, I dont plan on doing any racing but i do like the thrill of power from time to time. However If i wanna get on the road and travel i wouldnt want to have to drive the evo with no cruise control... so i may be in transition here , i will know for sure tommorow. thanks guys for your opinions i will log in what choice i've made tommorrow. oh and you cant love anything unless youve spent some time with it.....i had 1 test drive....

Man, why did you post all that crap? We don't care.

I had an IS300 and enjoyed it thoroughly, but it was only for going to work and cruising. It was completely useless for anything remotely close to competition racing, so I go the Evo. The 350 is obviously faster now, but with the RWD and weight, it will never satisfy your needs if you were really interested in an Evo.

if you truely believe that an is350 even comes close to an evo ix in terms of performance, i am happy with your decision.

edit: also, i noticed you are 43. maybe at this point in your life, a luxury car is more suited to you.

I know you dont care , The Evo is an extreme car, and thats why you guys like em! The Evo gives you a race car that eventually will either breakdown, or give you trouble with the authorities. The reason I posted was to hear all points of view which helped me make my decision, and i thank you guys for that. I was interested in the Evo but after driving it, I knew it was a car i wouldnt want to live with every day.. Also reading all the early breakdown stories posted here in this forum helped me to decide to go with a car that is plenty fast,(0-60 in 5.3), luxuriouse, and will hold its value, also will stand the test of time. The truth is most extreme high pro cars eventually breakdown, and the evo is not exempt from this...I could have bought a z06 vette, but that car is also to extreme, needless to say it will smoke any sti or evo.....luxury plus performance is now my new nich.

Thanks again guys!
