Shouldn't be much different from your GT. Maybe a little slower up top and less-precise steering.

What about the clutch situation with the AWD? I understand its not wise to leave hard with it. Clutches seem to be the weak link in mitsubishis, i had to replace my stock clutch in my Eclipse after 27,000 miles. I bought a Clutchmaster street clutch and never had another problem, my Eclipse has 50,000 miles on it now.....It has good low end torque but as you go thru the gears you can sense it could use more midrange to high power. I'm hoping the evo pulls real hard thru 2nd 3rd, 4th, 5th ....THE bums at 2 dealerships i visited wont let me drive it till i'm ready to buy it....

Yeah, no one wants an Evo that was test-driven by a guy driving a 2000 Eclipse.

The clutch on the Evo depends on how you drive, unless you're looking at a used MR, in which case the clutch is probably already replaced or will need to be replaced very soon.

Btw, it won't pull hard in 4th or 5th. 3rd is so-so...

I had 2003 GTS before I bought an 04 Evo VIII which i then traded for an 06Evo IX MR. The eclipse was cool it got me more chicks for some reason but im engaged now so that doesnt matter. That was the only thing i like about my eclipse. Other then that the evo is a better car. More power then the 210hp eclipse, AWD, Turbo, better handeling, and all the goodies one can wish for. Oh yea the evo keeps its vlue too. The eclipse in the other hand well lets just say its not worth much.

The worst Eclipse ever made pullin honey's. How ironic!

Yeah, my wife's 2002 GT lost half its value in 2 years. What a waste of money that thing was...and a POS to boot.

true words.

You might even notice the brakes arn't quite as good in the MR, as in your GT. In addition, it'll be hard to get used to the sloppy feel of the MR, wheras the GT (as i recall) has quite the "well put together" feel. my .02

Well i do agree my Eclipse with the eibach sportlines (2"lowered) and kyb adjustable struts, has a solid feeling on the road, it also has the quick ratio steering that never fails to impress me. But it probably feels real steady cause it weighs over 3500lbs...I've replaced the brakes with stock size brembo rotors and hawk pads so my eclipse stops real well, but I cant imagine it would stop better then the bigger brembo rotors on the smaller lighter EVo MR.

i think he was joking withyou lol....but you owned a mitsu you know their stock brakes SUCK...the brembo calipers are good but the pads are a ripoff and the rotors suck like all the others. Buy some slotted rotors and some decent pads for the evo and you fix what IMHO is its biggest weakness (next to the turning radius

I'm dyin' here...

Quick ratio steering on the 2kGT...it has some of the WORST steering of any car I've ever driven. They really weigh 3500lbs? I never knew that. The MR weighs 3280 empty.

Bottom line the evo will impress you. Trust me I was at the dealership working some numbers and I told myself wtf its only some f*&king car. So I told the Fleet manager nevermind and he said well lets test drive one. Lets just say after the test drive I took one home.
