I install these things every damn day Xm and Sirius. Sirius in my oppinion has more music for what i like to listen to along with everyone i work with. I have owned a myfi b/ it was free and i never used it. The myfi did not turn out the best. Yes it is portable but the reception on it sucks if your walking around you still need the external antenna which clips on ur shirt of the headphone one in order to get good reception. The reason the s50 is not live streaming is b/ xm had so many problems with it that sirius did not want to attempt it at this point in time. The s50 is also byfar the best looking unit and the myfi has had a defect with the battery. I however do not belive that sirius or xm is true cd qauality b/ its not. I have heard probably 1000 plus sat radios fm modulation just plain out sucks it sounds to hollow to me if you compare it to a regular radio station there is even a difference. The direct connect units which are the best connection they offer does not even sound true cd quality Ive heard a couple Alpine and Eclipse direct connects and they sound pretty good however i just dont think its up to true digital quality like they advertise it to be. just my 2 cents though

I have a Sigma on glass antenna in there too, which is always an option. You can get them from Nissan, Subaru or www.thesiriusstore.com sells them.

If on your trunk be careful, some antennas don't have the rubber insulators and will scratch the paint.

My windows aren't tinted, but I think I am going to try putting the antena in the center front of the dash like a lot of people have been saying, much easier to route the wire there for now.
I just got the Alpine 9851 with the sirius tuner so I will see how everything sounds in a while. Going to eat and then try to install it tonight. Thanks everyone that posted

well I just got done with the install...would have taken only around one hour but I forgot a cd in the stock head unit so had to take everything apart again to get it out and put all back in. Was pretty easy with the wiring harness. I ended up putting the sirius antena in the Center of the dash up by the window. I'll see how the reception is tomorrow. Pics up tomorrow to if I have time

I installed my Sirius unit inside the glove box, hard wired it and am running the antenna right on top of the sliding unit under the moon roof.

It is metal at the leading edge so it sticks like a ****. Ran the antenna lead right down the A pillar.

I like that there is nothing visible inside or out.

im gonna try something i heard someone write about a while back, i think on here. Convert the rear taillight to LED and gain use of the plastic box for satellite/nav antenna. Will be doing insttall early may, when I get my orbital kit. will post pics for sure. Doing an eclipse AVN6600 with nav + sirius + ipod install..

try the front dash mount first like mine. if you have good signal you're just doing extra work. run it through A pillar and see how you like it. most people don't have signal issues with dash mounting.

I have my antena set up in the middle of the center dash but I am not getting any signal for the Sirius. Everything else seems to be working ok, anyone got any ideas. I sat and tried to move the antena around the front dash. Really don't want to have to totally move the antena somewhere else.

Ok. Live is best, fine, but you're definitely not understanding. Let me break it down:

What if I want to change a channel?
I've explained 3 times now that it CONSTANTLY records THREE (3) channels in the background. In other words if you have it docked (over night, for example, when you HAVE TO PLUG IT IN ANYWAY TO CHARGE IT) for 8 hours, you are actually recording 24 HOURS of programming on 3 seperate channels, which you can browse through backwards and forwards... if you can't find a song that you want to listen to within 24 (up to 50) hours of recorded programming on 3 different channels, then you need to either record different channels or get a refund on Sat. Radio!

What if I don't LIKE the song recorded?
This is where it's SIGNIFICANTLY better than live, because you can stay on the same channel, but just skip that song and go to the next! You are not at the mercy of the Program Director or DJ... you choose if you wanna go on to the next song or not... or even if you want to go to another channel!

But you have a choice, not limited to what you recorded on one channel.
Once again, it records 3 CHANNELS which you can toggle between as well as through, plus whatever you've already recorded as individual songs.

You are right, that "live" is better, but just answer me this: Are the Black Eyed Peas actually recording and broadcasting that song LIVE for you right then while you listen to it? You gotta know that it's all pre-recorded stuff anyway (except for the couple of hours of talk, and often those are reruns or on delay), and the s50 just gives you the option to skip over or go back to things you hate/like.

And don't worry, you win. There is no better technology than being able to recieve Live XM or Sirius Feed wherever you are. I only hope at least you understand now how the s50 actually works, because you have some major misconceptions...

Sorry I've gone off topic a lot, but I think I have some leeway since I posted a helpful picture at the beginning of the thread
