Good luck on banging the hump out. Just be thankful you werent injured in any of this. I've actually had a car fall on me because I was to stupid to use jack stands. The car flew down squishing my head with the front bumber (thankfully not the engine or tranny) a little before rebounding back up. Lets just say I had a bit of a headache and scare after that
.
.
i wouldnt sayt hat one problem leads to another. Maybe your just not jacking it up in the right place. You cant just throw the jack under the car and start cranking be careful when working on your car. The last thing that we wanna hear is that one of our members got murdered by his EVO Due to improper use.

find something else other than wood to displace the load more equally. maybe a thick peice of rubber. that works for me.

The car dropped about, what, 2 inches?
That happened to me with my last car. I was using a wooden block to raise the car higher and when I went to lower it the block broke and the car dropped 3 inches back onto the jack.
Not only did it cause a big bump under the car but it shattered my rear window. Luckily my insurance company bought my story about a rock hitting it or I wouldv'e been out about 900$.

damn . Good thing u weren't under the car.
Whenever I lift my car with a floorjack I use 2 x 6 ton stands on the sides and 2 x 3 ton jack in the middle. The front is on ramps ofcourse. I know its an overkill , but would rather be safe than sorry.
good luck

Alright, I just got done beating the hell out of the dent in the floor
. Nothing fancy, I just took a good sized board and beat on it. I had better ideas if that didnt work well, but it did. It's not perfect, but 100 times better than it was. I had one of my friends sit in it and tell me if it seemed odd to him.. "Nope". Works for me.
Thanks for all the replies and concerns. Now if I can get over my fear of dropping the car again, Ill be doing alright

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I had a similar incident. I was jacking up my car using the front tow hook as the jacking point. The jack slipped forward off the hook and went right up through my intercooler. Luckily the IC was the only think that was broken, and because a stock replacement is so expensive and I have a cool insurance company, I am now an owner of an AMS intercooler.

ALWAYS use the front and rear jacking points when useing a floor jack.
The side spots are ONLY for the factory jack.
Deja vu, I had this exact thing happen to me last year same spot and same issue (board on jack). I ended up taking mine to a body shop for repair. They pounded it out and spot welded along the frame rail as it had caused it to pull away a little.
This is why I bought ramps. If I don't have to take a wheel off, I don't use a jack. And if and when I use one, it's a nice Kobalt one, with a large holding surface. You are never better than your equipment.
