Not all AMS car run 9s and not all turned out the way they should. I was a bit disappointed w/ my result but the car run OK (before stroker)
Car has AMS turbo kit w/ meth and ALL the supporting mods
Buschurs stroker and head
Sheps tranny w/ Quaife front diff etc...
Racingbrake 2pcs setup
MR Bilstein suspension

It's cheaper to do everything all at once but few of us has that kind of cash laying around. Also don't let the advertised price fools you, the stroker $3200, head $1600, turbo kit $4000-$5000 do not add up to a whole lot. To get them in the car working will take a whole lot more $$$ than most people realize and then there are the supporting mods, a thousand here, a few hundreds there, they all add up really quick.

The other way to be done is when you look at how many mistakes you have made in the past pissing money away on nothing and realizing that there are better places to put your money (house, mutual funds, etc). I've been down the same road as you and everyonce in a while I get the urge to mod my car all out but then reality sets in that the car is plenty fast and enjoyable already and since I'm not Bill Gates kid, my money is probably better spent elsewhere.

That is certainly a valid and respectable way to look at things. Wasting money on nothing would be bad. Personally, I don't look at any of my past hobbies as a mistake, and I wouldn't take any of them back if I could. I look at all the money I've spent on my hobbies as an investment - an investment in great memories, alot of fun, and a life well lived.

I could have never raced mountian bikes, ATVs or cars and instead spent all that money on a $500,000 house with a big huge yard. But personally, I get no enjoyment or satisfaction out of a house. For me it is a place to sleep, eat and poop. And work on cars. I have a modest house, contribute substantially to my 401K and Roth IRA, and spend whatever is left on enjoying life. For me that is the whole reason to work, so that you can afford to enjoy life.

I know when I get married and have kids my priorities will change, as my kids will be my main "hobby" or reason for living. All of my time and money will go towards ensuring they have more opportunities than I had. But until that time comes, I am going to enjoy whatever hobby I am into to the fullest extent possible.
