Getting into an Evo & cost
Getting into an Evo & cost
OK......Ive been a Nissan guy my whole life.....Im 45 and drive a 3.5 Altima lightly modded, Its fast enough for me in a straight line, but not alot of fun to drive after having had an '02 SPEC-V with full Nismo suspension. Anyway....about to make a push with the wife regarding getting into a IX, but need some info as to what payments might be.................
Lets say I put down a grand only and am able to break even on my Alti. What are Mistubishi options for financing and what could I expect my monthly payments to be if it was stretched to the highest month financing? I currently pay about $310/mo for the Alti. I am not at all intersted in leasing (who is?).
Ive always been a fan of the Evo but lately, Im kind of getting obsessed. This way cool board hasnt helped btw!!!
Would love any feedback anybody could give me figuring there are some guys who probably didnt have alot to put down either.............

It messed up guys...........my wife gets the half-million dollar home last year that I reluctanly agreed to.........and I get a 22K Nissan Altima. The Alti's a nice enough car but damn if I think its not too much for me to drive the car I really want to be driving..............
Im hesitant to consider a used Evo because lets face it........would be akin to taking the word of a ***** that she is a virgin............

I have a near perfect credit rating, but was only able to get 6.4%. I guess it wasn't bad... but I was hoping for better.

yeah, but with an evo you can replace all the used pieces with better ones. that's a little harder to do with ******.
I was looking into used EVO's but I couldn't bring myself to do it. You just don't know what that person did to the car. Most other cars I wouldn't mind buying used... but EVO's... I don't know...
Another thing to consider is GAS! Depending how you drive, I have been reading anywhere from 180 to 220 (average!!!) miles per tank. I am lucky to get 300 out of a tank. The only other thing that might cost you a few pennies is tires. They are very sticky!
Lucky for you then, Mitsu doesn't lease the Evo's
W/ $5k down, I'm going to be @ $410/month on payments on an Evo9, using 6% interest rate. 6% is very very optimistic for me though LOL, even with a good credit score. I think Prime is like 7.75% ATM, could be wrong, and going up up up. The new federal reserve chairman has said he plans to follow Greenspan's plan of bumping up the interest rate a quarter of a point like every few weeks or something to prevent inflation, which sucks for us who are looking at financing, so its only gonna get worse.
edit: oh right, this is for 6 years.

Uh, why don't you call your bank or something dude. Interest rates vary for everyone. I have really good credit, and they only got me like 7.5% recently. I'm in the middle of refinancing with a local credit union though. Mitsu doesn't run any financing specials on the Evo, they don't need to, so don't expect anything.
It was mentioned earlier, but I want to stress the maintenance costs. The stock tires under normalish (no tracking) will last around 20k miles and run over $800 new from tirerack + mounting. You can easily sell these off and get and get some good all-seasons if you like. Another thing is the oil changes. At the dealer, they'll run aabout $75. At a quicklube place, about $55. This is because the Evo needs full synthetic, preferably Mobil 1. Gas mileage depends on your driving. You can pull 18-20mpg easily with a mix of driving if the car is stock. 24mpg on the highway. Modding can raise or lower depending on tuning, so factor that in. Then there's the money for mods when that 'itch' starts, but sounds like you understand that. Hope that helps.

Bolt.com, I am 30 years old and this is my second Evo. I have alwayse been a carsales man since I got out of school and alwayse had a FREE demo. any Jeep Chrysler or Dodge I want. I test drove the Evo on a whim and I fell in love. I now am addicted and spend $565 a month plus about $500-$1000 a month in mods, those are very addicting! To make a long story short, I was getting tired of the car business and sick of cars and bored with life. I got my first Evo 3 years ago and now I am happy everyday, love cars and the car business and I feel even with the money I spend , this was the best thing that ever happend to me! I cant wait to get up every mornong to take the hour long drive to work!
