Getting from Cali, to Canada, with a new Evo...

BTW Eggy, if you're buying the Evo in SoCal, and you cut across on the 70 from the 15 to the 80, you'll finish up your break-in miles a little bit before Grand Junction, CO. This means you'll be able to test out the boost going up and over the mountains. This section of highway is, IMO, one of the best in the country in terms of scenery just all around cruising.

Like no one can be bothered to say or spell the actual name of the state. I'm sure I'll find something else to bug me soon.
Sounds like an awesome drive, though.
so you are taking your evo across the border permanently? I thought that due to some bs crsh test the evo is not allowed up there how are you going to register and get insurance?

Once you get on the open road, just try and vary your speed by 10mph or so, and drop down to 4th every once in a while (but don't boost). Easiest thing to do is to follow someone for a little bit, and then overtake them, and then follow someone else, and then overtake them. Just make a routine of it for the first 600miles or so.
As far as the oil change, finding a Jiffy lube on the way will work, but I would pick up an OEM oil filter from the dealer when you pick up the car, and maybe pick up your oil at an auto parts store on the way, and have the lube place use them when they do the change. It'll help with Mitsu warranty if you ever need to use it.

I will do just that. If all goes according to plan I should have enough time to break it in before the trip. That would be great.I will also try to check out that stretch of highway you're talking about because it sounds great. I usually stick with my family in Santa Monica 90% of the time so it will be cool to explore the rest of "CALIFORNIA" (happy Rod? o.0) a bit. The Evo gives me a perfect reason to do so
Evo8rcr: I've explained this like 3 times throughout the thread
The Evo is not allowed to be registered in Canada, which is why it will be registered in Cali. I am doing my 3rd year of school in Japan ATM and after this I will grab the Evo, head to Toronto to finish my last year at U of T and then move to Cali for law school
Busy schedule o.0
You need to boost it sometimes to get the rings seated properly. And I would be hesitant to trust a lube place not to screw up my brand-new car.
Where are you going to law school in CALIFORNIA?

Cool; both good choices, although UCLA will give you just as good an education and a whole lot less debt that "Stanferd." And Cal would be my suggestion for the most fun campus combined with a great education. A lot of good law schools here in Cali.

I do have a few very good references though so I shouldn't have too much trouble
If you have any advice or suggestions for me please let me know in a pm or something cause I'd love to hear. Are you a lawyer as well?

just noticed your new sig
OK, first off, why are you asking us what we think it will cost you to ship the car. Why don't you go to the source, Google "auto shipping", and call some of the companies.
I imported a Supra from Vancouver, BC to Michigan. Had it shipped via rail from Vancouver to Windsor, then via car hauler from there to my front door. You can immagine my neighbor's surprise when this huge car hauler semi truck pulled up in our little residential neighborhood.
As for time frame it should take less than a week. It is safe. All cars are shipped around the country when they are brand new.
Anyway it cost about $1000. Most of the places I called were from $900 to $1200.

Personally, I'd drive it. I love to drive, personally. You could look at it as an opportunity to bond with your Evo. And if you drive conservatively, your gas mileage shouldn't be too bad. Stay far behind trucks, don't speed, etc.
