Angry Get this!!

So, i pick up my beautiful Evo RS in rally red on friday, and i'm happy as could be! I've been driving around like crazy scince then to break her in, until last night...

I'm going out to play some rollerhockey with some friends when all of the sudden it sounds like my wastegate dumped some SERIOUS air and all my power dies out.

My buddy who was behind me says my car is pouring out black smoke when i give it gas. WHAT THE HELL.

Well, it turned out to be something pretty simple, thank god. The Circle clamp that was holding the intake pipe from my turbo to the throttle body either was never installed or it broke which allowed the pipe to pop off hence not getting the engine the proper amount of air making it run rich as hell. thankfully his house was up the street and he had one of those clamps which i replaced and quickly rectified the problem.

Anyhow, yeah...one hell of an intro to owning an Evo. Can you say hard pipes?

That is known as the UICP. Another common culprit is the lower, or LICP.

Welcome to the forums. You're gonna get a billion "do a search"es, 1/2 of a billion "sucks - happened to me too" and about one welcome.

Right? hehe.
Maybe I should just replace them all with t-bolts now so I don't have to worry.

haha yeah somehow that rang as something that might happen frequently.

As far as the car goes, aside from that happening, i absolutly love it. The gearbox is a little stiff, and the turbo lag takes a bit getting used to, but other than that i'm super psyched!

Thanks for the welcome btw
