I'm trying to decide which one I should get... what are the advantages of each car?

The two questions you need to ask yourself are:

1. do you plan on modifying the car you get?
If you plan to mod go with the evo for sure. You buy a $35,000 EVO and then dump the extra $15,000 into it via mods, and you could destroy a stock M3 and many other cars for that matter.

2. Is luxurious interior a high priority for you?

IF so, AND YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY FOR IT get the M3.

a lot of people on this forum seem to be complaining about their evos having problems and i was wondering if this is really due to a lack of quality or just bad driving?

you must be kidding me? 15,000 mods will destroy M3? or 1,500 mods?

These are two good questions... I do plan on modding the car that I get and a luxurious interior is not really a high priority for me. I guess my biggest concern is coming from all the people here complaining about issues with their evos.

Most cases deal with EVOs with aftermarket modifications, so if you buy an EVO and do some modifications, be sure to take care of her.

With all due respect, the M3 is an awesome car, but like what was already said, they are very different from one another and the EVO does have advantages over the M3, such as all around performance, tuning potential, and price. Not saying that the M3 is not a bad *** car, because it is, but don't assume someone looking to buy a car might not pick the EVO over the M3 solely because the EVO suits their needs more.

If money is no concern and you care about status ,live in Los Angeles or Orange County by the M3. My co-worker is fully aware any Evo or STI with Mods will kick his you know what! He won't admit it but i know he wishes he bought the Evo. All he complains about his how much aftermarket performance mods cost. Except for the issues i have with my brakes I luv my Evo.

You still didn't answer the question about if the M3 will be new or used. If new, m3 for sure. If used, I'd seriously have to think about it. By the way, if you are trying to get the chicks, turn away from the evo now, you will get no sympathy from them for having a 4 door car with a massive wing.
