hand held programer?
I would even be happy if there was something that stored three maps and plugged into the OBD II port to reflash and you couldn't tune it yourself. Even if you still had to get the maps from one of the tuners or at dyno day. Then you could at least have a stock map, normal tuned map, valet, gas mileage, or a race gas map.
They have something similar to this for the Mini. I think it is called a Bluefin or something.

COBB is very popular in the WRX/STI world and they make the Access Port, with is basiclly this....

Ya I'm going to hold back on the flash till a handheld comes out...I really like the idea of easily switching back and forth whenever you like (stock/race gas/pump gas/valet/etc)...Anybody who gets SportsCar mag..(all SCCA members) there's a great article in the May issue called "Programming the Mystery Box" and it's all about chip tuning and handheld programmers in SCCA races. I most like the APR (VW Audi Porsche tuners) idea of switching back and forth through a button...they use cruise control button. Ya whoever gets on this is gunna make some $$$...hell even Volvo has handheld programmers!!

I had a 2001 gti 1.8t and had the apr chip placed on the ecu... there are the good and the bad things about that... boost surge was common and the chip coming lose. the good side was the ability to switch to the valet setting for the dealership, but they still knew that the car was chipped.
