Buying an EVO VI.
Buying an EVO VI.
Hey guys,
Mind helping a newbie out? I've currently got a worked S2000 (13.9s, 213rwhp) which I am sick of. I want to sell it and get an Evo VI with only a few thousand extra thrown in on my part. (Unfortunately, the price of a brand new Evo VIII would be stretching the budget too far - even if they were available in Australia, which they're not)
Any Evolution Lancers are extremely hard to get in Australia, so I can't afford to be too picky, however, I will want one in good condition.
I was just wondering if there was anything in particular I should look out for, when buying an EVO VI. Like the early S2000s were known for noisy 1st and 2nd gear decelerations, and oil starvation problems.... Any similar warnings for the Evo?
Thanks for your help.
Ken

Great stuff!
The "Common Quirks/Faults" section had *exactly* what I was after. Photos and all. I'm going to print it out for when I go hunting.
Thanks a lot for the quick and very effective response.

Just put down a deposit on a Tommi Makinen Evo VI, Red, 19,000km, Auction Grade 5. (Indistinguishable from new)
Unfortunately, I don't get to test drive it until I pay for it. My agent in Japan sends me a mechanical report as well as photos, and if I'm happy, then I have to pay for it in full before receiving it.
I get it in 6 weeks
