Guess I am another victim?

Well about a month ago i put a new act clutch in my car. I went up to the dealership to get some diaqueen for the transfer case and Penzoil syncromesh for the clutch at Autozone. Anyways, after 2 weeks of driving the clutch was being notchy. So i tried clutch pedal adjustment that really didnt help. Well 2 weeks ago i went to the track to test out the new clutch. Did 9 passes with no issues and turned the car off for about 45 mins before taking off home. Well about a mile down the road the car started giving me the xfer case whine and grind. Sure enough that was our conclusion. We took the xfer, trans out and drained all the fluids. Then we opened the xfer case and tranny. NOt a single sign of broken metal flakes at all or discoloration. So today we were putting everything together and I used some diaqueen that i bought from TRE and well the sounds got a lot less. So we poured some diaqueen from TRE "diaqueen can" in a cup and then poured some of the **** the mits dealer gave me "not in a can" in another cup. Noticeable differences in smell, color and thinkness. Both yellow but the diqueen that TRE gave me which is the right stuff was thick...bright yellow and smell like a poop diaper bag. Funny thing is when we drained it out it was black! The yellow thin **** they gave me turned black. The dealer gave me **** from a barrel which sounded fishy to me. So now everythig in my car is stock now we took every single thing out. You guys think they will try to break my *****? Who agrees they owe me a new transfer case? What can i say to them to pay for it ...what steps do i need to take ..what do i need to say?

Walk right up the counter, dump on the floor and make the mitsu rep drink it.

Then dump on the floor again.

the diaqueen drains black after being used as well...but the consistency is still molasses-like. if the other stuff was runny, they definitely just used regular tranny fluid. it sounds like you're screwed but you should take the drained fluid in for them to look at and have them compare it with the diaqueen. the problem is that they don't have to and probably won't believe you. best of luck!

because they'll have to pay out of their pocket to fix it...considering other people's experiences with Mitsu, they will most likey say that it is broken because you were racing it or had an aftermarket clutch in it.

i hope your experience is otherwsie.

Definately save that stuff. I've walked into the area where the Mitsu service guys work to watch them work on my car reguardless of the "Employees Only" sign. From there, I've watched what they did while talking it up with them... acting all buddy buddy. My brand new Evo IX is already experiencing an oil leak, thus it needs additional oil to keep it going till they fix it.

Well, the service guy offered to fill my oil level up after he saw the problem area and he fills it up with the first "Mobil 1" bottle of oil he has. It's of a different weight than I'm using which is 5w-30... he's add's 10w-30 which is no big deal but, to me it kind of is. To him, it's motor oil and it's all the same... he doesn't even know what dino oil is. They don't really care that much sometimes.

Evo guys, like BMW M guys, STI guys, "performance enthusiast" guys are generally the same sort of people... we are fanatical about our cars. We are not generic chevy or ford types... we like our stuff to be exact and precise. Most of the mechanics have a chevy and ford mentality unfortunately and they usually like NASCAR... nuff said. It's something we have to deal with... not put up with. Unfortunately, we have to make return trips to the dealerships to let them know that their mechanics are friggin chuckle heads and need to get your car sorted out correctly. The hard part is to do this tactfully so that you don't **** them off and go down the wrong road.

I made the mistake of having the dealer do my 30k driveline service. My xfer case went in 1000 miles. I took it to another dealer and they replaced the case under warranty. 600 miles later I could hear it starting to whine again. I drained the lube to find some thin oil come out. It will be hard to prove it's their fault, but worth a try.
good luck.
