The IX's looks don't bug me, I just prefer the VIII's. I also work at a dealership, so I know how these things usually go.
Ok..I must admit..I'm a bit confused.

You state that you like the looks of the 8 over the 9, implying (in this scenario) that you'd rather get the 8 at this price, vs. a new 9. But, you then deny looks having anything to do with it.

Then you state that you work at a dealership and know how these things usually go...and yet are asking us if it's a good deal? And furthermore, when we tell you that it's not (in our opinions), you don't necessarily seem to agree or disagree yet.

Don't read too much into what I'm saying...I'm not trying to get on your case here nor am I being sarcastic. Just curious what the deal is. I mean, afterall, it is your money and your car. We just want to give you the best feedback/input we can. From there, it's all on you.

$29k is a bit too much for an used 05....

I would expect to pay around $26-27k for it though.

Don't get me wrong, if I could find a IX for this payment I would. I just don't think thats possible around here. I work at a Chevy dealership and we don't deal in any used Mitsus so I was wondering what you guys thought. In my opinion the 8 does look nicer than the 9 but if its the same payment for both, I'm taking the 9.

I agree its a little much but this car is PERFECT. Not a scratch, dent, chip or mark on it.

They look identical except for the slight difference in the bumper cover. There's probably a few hundred VIII owners who would trade with you in a heartbeat...

I know. I wasn't really THAT concerned with the look of the 9. I just searched a few local dealers and the cheapest one I found was $31, 600. Thats without SSL.

Just keep the car you have. Why start over in car payments on basically the same car? You will be upside down a good 5-6 grand off the bat!

I'm with you man. I hate the looks of the IX front end and I don't like the IX Enkei's. Plus IMO they made it a slight bit faster but cheapened it up a bit. I think this deal would be better if you can negotiate alot more. I bought my 05 brand new almost 5 months ago for $29,500 and it's electric blue with SSL. How many miles are on the 05? If it's used it would have to be around $26k depending on the miles.

I haven't seen a concept drawing for the XI front bumper yet. Where did you find that?

DSMEVOLUTION, come on now, a "slight bit faster"? Haha, the IXs CRUSH the VIIIs so far. They are stronger stock, but with minimal mods, they are MUCH stronger. Where did they cheapen it? The Enkeis are lighter with a slight design change, which makes sense after 3 years of the same style. The bumper is not "cheapened" either - it's just a new style. I don't care for the bumper or wheels either, but I have an MR - I don't actually like the BBS design either, but for anyone who gets a IX and wants the VIII Enkeis and VIII front bumper cover, they could easily trade straight up with many VIII owners.

I've only had my car for a year and a half and there isn't much equity into it but they offered to pay it off and then some(approx. $800). My payoff was $21,700. The 05 Evo is priced at $30,500 but they said they're giving it to me for under $29,000. Any way, the final number ended up being the same exact payment I have now only another year added on to the duration of the loan. My wife and I left the dealership to think about it. Do you think I should do it?? Does this sound like a good deal???
This dealer is ripping you off if you do it. It is probably 28999(under 29000 lol). I just bought my '06 Evo for 29,000. So they are asking a rediculous price for a used car, which many are paying for a new car. Dont do it.

It is not a good deal at all. I couldn't even get 28k for my MR 6-7 months ago...
This is the exact same thing I would have told him. Not to mention their new 9's are brand new never been test driven. This si where I got my car from. Call them asap and talk to Mark mecado.
They will give you top dollar for your evo and you will get into a 9 instead of a 8.

On the contrary the evo 9's front bumper looks far better. First off the aerodynamics is better. Secondly more airflow to the intercooler due to the foglight gaps and the gap on the top where the mitsu emblem goes. This is why mitsu didnt incorporate a intercooler sprayer due to the enhanced airflow.

Also the look of the 8 is better? hogwash!

The interior on the 9 for example is far better and many will agree with me on this.

The rims are personal preferance. And the spoiler side pieces arent carbon fiber which is the only downfall IMHO. BUt it still looks nice.

So what you like the front bumber better on the 8! You still have a much slower car than everyone with a 9.

However, I guess just be happy with what ya have. I am not bashing the 8, but c'mon people give credit where credit is due and admit the evo 9 is better.
