Would you do it?????

I went to the Mitsu dealer today and I was pondering trading in my 03 Tarmac for an 05 Electric Blue with the SSL package. After hours of negotiating they came up with a pretty good deal in my opinion. Here's the deal: My car as a trade(w/ 30,000 miles) with nothing down for the 05(w/ 11,000 miles). I've only had my car for a year and a half and there isn't much equity into it but they offered to pay it off and then some(approx. $800). My payoff was $21,700. The 05 Evo is priced at $30,500 but they said they're giving it to me for under $29,000. Any way, the final number ended up being the same exact payment I have now only another year added on to the duration of the loan. My wife and I left the dealership to think about it. Do you think I should do it?? Does this sound like a good deal???

Yeah, they told me that the price was under $29000(whatever that means). So , I'm not really sure of teh exact figure. Of course they were acting like they were giving it away.

They're "giving" you the used, 1.5 year old 05 for 29k??? YOu mean they're trying to make some bank off of you. You can get a brand new IX for 29k from South Coast Mitsu, which is much more powerful. Even a new IX w/SSL is only 31k or so.

It is not a good deal at all. I couldn't even get 28k for my MR 6-7 months ago...

Exactly what I was thinking. Then again, it sounds a lot better when Warr says it.

Ok, brown nosing aside..I'd seriously reconsider this deal. Especially if you aren't sure of the EXACT numbers. Under 29,000 means nothing as does their attitude. Unless you have a GOOD history with this dealership or know someone (personally) involved in the sale, never assume a dealership is going to give you a 'good' deal. That may sound harsh, but it is unfortunately true.

And as Warr mentioned, you'd be MUCH better off getting a brand new IX GSR from South Coast. If you're willing to spend "under 29,000", might as well put any extra cash/financing and get the REAL better deal.

Good luck with whatever you do.

Edit: Er, what part of the "looks" of the 9's bug you? We're performance minded people here, c'mon! Looks!? Pah. Just think M-I-V-E-C and h0t interior. Oh so hot.

Where is South Coast Mitsu??? I haven't seen any 9's under 30. I don't even car about the SSL, this one just happens to have it.

The IX's looks don't bug me, I just prefer the VIII's. I also work at a dealership, so I know how these things usually go.

It's located in Orange County squished between LA county and San Diego in sunny southern California (I should be a salesman, hot damn!)

And considering you're on the OPPOSITE side of the country, it may not end up being a better deal for you, but it's more about the principle/point: They want to give you a "good" deal on a USED and OLDER Evo 8 for the cost of what some dealerships are selling the 9's at.

Here in PA they are pricing the 06's up at around 32k for the IX. I just bought mine last weekend over in Ohio at Medina.

I think it's a coast thing - EVO's are pretty big out in the West, around here in PA people seem to have no idea they exist.

IMO, I don't think it's a good idea. Unless losing a couple of thousands is ok w/ you then go ahead and get the VIII since you like how they look.

But it's still is used. It even has more miles than mine w/c I got 12/04.

yeah, its a little far away but I see the point. I wish I could find a dealer near me selling the IX's at these prices.
