Windshield cracked! Got Questions, please help
Coming home from work yesterday, my windshield too a small hit, and it cracked overnight. Didn't even get a chance to fill it. The crack is about 5 inches horizontal. Not too deep.
Questions:
1. Is this it too late to fill original hole and not have it spread anymore? I think I can live with a 5 inch crack.
2. Has anyone successfully ordered OEM Evo windshield? How long did it take?
3. Can someone confirm OEM Lancer windshield fitment would also work? (I am aware it its heavier)
4. How much is this going to cost me without labor?

Dont fix the crack, you will still see some marks even they will repair it and it is not guaranteed that the crack wont come back. And its 75 dollars to fix a crack. Better change your windshield.
I had mine replaced for $150, its a replacement windshield for lancer. (So yes it would fit) I dont know about the weight and stuff but I dont care its just a freaking glass. I wont shell out 750 bucks for Original Evo windshield. They dont make replacement glass for evos, only Original which you could only buy at the dealership.
150 is NY price so maybe its much more cheaper there. Go to a local Auto Glass shop

Its too big to fill now. The crack will continue to spread. You are going to have to replace the window. Call around to your local glass shops. I got mine replaced for 190 I think. Its not Mitsubishi glass of course. Fitment is perfect at least.
its too late to fill the chip has already started a crack, even if you try to fill it, it will continue to crack. ypu can only fill a chip/ bullseye/ or mustash. oem glass is going to be expesive due to availablity. i don't think dealership carry glass due to the fact its way to fragile in a parts department. pricewise look for it to be around 450-515. your best bet is to find a mobile glass company, takes about 15mins from start to finish.check your local yellow pages
Your insurance should cover this. I had mine replaced. It took them 4 days to get in the windshield it is the original EVO glass. The glass company had to order it from Mitsu. Call your agent and ask them mine had no deductable.
Good luck
Good luck
Factory glass takes about a week to get. I would definitely go with factory glass. I jst had mine replaced under warranty so I didn't have to deal with insurance but, it should be covered and be relatively painless.

anyone have the two part numbers?
1. Evo glass
2. Lancer glass
thanks. The autoglass guy is coming tomorrow to check it out. My insurance told me if he can fix it, it won't cost anything.
The autoglass person claims, Evo glass = Lancer glass, so I really need the 2 different part numbers to forward on to them. I really prefer OEM Evo glass.

What is so different about Late Model Lancer glass to almost double the price?
Try calling another dealership that doesn't make much sense. I would think the more limited production lighter weight Evo glass would be the more expensive option.

the only difference between EVO glass and lancer glass is the thing that the mirror is attached to the glass by (and of course th part number).
I had mine replace for free through my insurance co.
