Thanks man, I appreciate the effort. Even with the white residue in the O2 housing, I'd like to know how they thought the car was running lean from what they saw. Lean conditions would cause detonation long before a rod nut backed off in perfect condition. meh.

Got a few more pics from tonight. Basically removed the FMIC, oil cooler lines, clutch lines, shifter cables, battery/tray, and the rest of the cables on the wire harness.

Naked

Transmission tweaked a bit when she blew eh?? This bolt was the top middle transmission bolt

Nice crack on top of the transmission. Looks like Shep may be getting this tranny to fix before re-install

Clean engine bay. As soon as the axles are out, tranny, x-fer case and motor are ready to be pulled

Tomorrow the axles get removed, I'm shooting to remove the big components on Sat.

Awesome, I love big projects like this

Is that an actual crack? Or is it just from the casting?

Oh thats a crack alright. Happened when one of the rods mashed a softball sized hole in the back of the block and cracked off a cast piece [from the block] where the upper rear most tranny bolt is located.

10.99 or better in the 1/4 would make me super satisfied. Building mostly for Auto-x though! Overall I would love to accomplish a low [atleast faily low] spooling 500 whp turbo that will be easy to handle around an Auto-x course, is a menace on the track, and produces anything in the 10's on the drag strip. That would be the ultimate street/track setup. Wait until I finish the engine and get to the suspension setup. hehe.

I've had a similar crack happen to me before on a awd DSM tranny. I had to replace the tranny. I do not think that tranny can be fixed, you would have to re-weld the piece back on, but it might break again since welds generally aren't strong enough to hold this type of load. Your block looks exactly like one of my DSM 6 bolt 4g63's after a track day hehe, brings back memories =) Good luck on the build, don't give up!
