Quote: This same strange phenomena happens to me as well. A few days ago I drove by some grand am and it tried to do a burnout in the parking lot as it left (didn't work since he had a auto tranny). I think it is due to the enormous wing. They probably don't know that this car packs 300 HP + awd, all they see is the wing & exhaust and probably think we are just ricers (I don't think most people know what an Evolution is).
The same crap happens to me all the time and I hate it. It seems that everyday I catch people giving the EVO a dirty look or worse yet - laughing hystericaly at it. I'm an old school American musclehead. I built, drove, and raced second gen Camaro's for 13 years before getting into real import cars. IMHO import's like the EVO, STi, Turbo Supra, and R34 Skyline are like the Japanese version of American musclecars. These cars have wicked engines and flashy gimics like the rally styling of the EVO and STi or the big rear spoiler on the back of the Turbo Supra. I don't know why most Americans can't see how similar cars like our EVO's are to the American muscle of yesteryear. Back in the late 60's and early 70's the bad a@# muclecars used gimics. Pontiac had "The Judge", Mopar had the huge wing of the Superbird and a cool air scoop called an "Airgrabber", Chevy had SS badges and rally stripes all over their Chevelles and Camaro's, and Olds had hood scoops and wings on their 442's.
It's sad that alot of people throw our EVO's into the same pot as some jerk that ordered a tri-plane wing from J.C. Whitney and slapped it on the back of their Civic EX. I'm sorry, but the EVO does not look "rice". Our wing looks like it was designed for the car just like the Integra Type R's or the Turbo Supra's. The wings on the real Japanesse cars don't look like an afterthought - they flow with the lines of the car and finish off the unique "look" the designers were going for and they are functional. IMO to say the EVO or any other super car from Japan is rice is to say that a 1970 Plum Crazy Purple Hemi Cuda is rice because it's purple or that a Dodge Superbird is rice because of the huge rear wing and Daytona urethane front nose.
I'm sorry about the rant but things like snot nose Honda kids talking s#$% about a phenominal car like the EVO pisses me off. I also get steamed when someone driving a Saturn, Chevy Malibu, Ford Ranger or any other everyday, boring, cookie cutter car laughs at my EVO or tries to race me at a stoplight.

Gatorade: Going well man... but I'm dying to get back into a car!!!!

as for the comment about most Evo owners and how they would probably rather own a Supra, I think this isn't true in the least.

You can get a fairly low-mile Supra for the same price that you can get a new Evo for, but the Evo is just a lot more practical than the Supra. The Supra was my dream car for about 6 years, but then I just realized it would be more convenient to own an Evo, and have a warranty all at the same time!

I hope to one day own both though

The mark 4 is just plain awesome. Toyo has never made a better car. And there arent many other cars that rival it in its class. Being able to make 8-900rwhp on the stock bottom end hasbeen known to happen. On the stock twins anywhere from 4-500. This car is indutably oneof the best japanese cars to ever exist.

I know in a drag the evo has the upper hand(depending on the supra of course) but I can gaurantee any of you that you will get demolished @ freeway speeds. I know cause I own 1. My evo cant touch my supra on the freeway.

I just think it's funny how they consider the Z a luxury sports car, thats why Nissan/Infiniti has the G35.

true... i hardly get to drive my evo its always in the shop. now it has mysterious electrical problems and the lugnuts are always coming loose. the nissan dealer said, "he'd give me 10,000 trade-in for a Z". i think i'll make the trade, the Z is the better car.

sure, slap a turbo on the Z and give it more HP but will it still be able to hang with the EVO taking corners? in the snow?

That was the reason. And this threads value is now zero and closed.
