i think you guys are over estimating this vw (we used to be a strictly european shop..)

atp doesnt have any spectacular setups at current. lots of talk about their eliminator kits etc.... we have two cars running locally...

if you are stock, he might walk you a bit... but with a turboback, and a flash or some tuning... it should be a good race....

+1.

if you race from a roll, its only fair you race from a stop too.

by bench racing the numbers are in his favor for a roll race. but you would win from a stop cause FWD+turbo he wont catch you till way past the 1/4, and chances are he wont even catch you.

80mph roll race = you lose
60mph roll race = you lose
10mph roll race = you win
race from a stop = you win

i say do his silly 80mph roll, but make sure he agrees to doing it from a stop too.

I just think its funny that someone can make an honest post about a buddy vs buddy race, and he gets responses like "keep it on the track" or something ghey like that. If you can't press the go-pedal when the conditions are right, why do you even drive a fast car? Keep it in the garage for track day I guess...

I don't understand your point, boostedwrx. What does pushing the "go-pedal" have to do with doing 80-130mph rolls in public? I race 4-5 times a month and drive my Evo daily. I save the high speed driving for the track where it's safe _and_ legal.

Go easy on that slobru fan. Whos to know that maybe some beat cop whos an evo owner is on here, maybe in his location? Cides, street racing is fun ya and its free unless you get caught by the 5-O (except when you're really racing for money). Thing is tracks are usually safer, they are legal, and theres a big crowd for braggin rights. When you drive off with a slip that says 11.0 sec in a quarter, its something you can show off to almost anyone. So it depends on which route the driver wants to go.. as I don't street race anymore, I find the tracks an alternate route for me at the moment. *tosses down a few pennies*

You WILL get killed. Even if you made the same power you should get beat. Go from a dig and it will be the other way around.
My GTi sucks a** from a dig. At the track she will run a 13.8 at 129 mph. FWD sucks 547 whp and 532 wtq= an awsome highway car
His golf is just about done at 340 wheel being a 1.8t, how much $ is in that....... 7k

13.8 @129 sounds like you got a horrible suspension setup, or you are running tires that came off a bicycle!

GT3071R kit - $3,500
Miltek Exhaust - $900
FMIC - $1,000
Unitronics Software - $900
Turbo Kit Labor - $900
Gauges & Greddy Profec B - $600

Quaife LSD - 900
ECS Stage 3 Clutch - $900
LSD & Clutch Labor - $1,000

Past $7K!!!

After all, he did want a highway killer. He still has some room for improvement with that GT3071R. Just waiting for his stock internal to blow, then it will be rebuilt.

Ask him for a ride first. If it yanks, which Im sure it does, unless it's a 1.8. Which are weak.
Depends on the driver's skill, shifting abilities. 3071 is a nice spooling turbo. Your 2.0 liters though, so it might be close. But most likely you will lose, if not, his car sucks and needs to be traded in for an evo! PERIOD! Class dismissed!

this is the first time i've heard of anyone challenging from a 80 mph roll

10 yes, 40 yes, but never 80... ... so basically he just is trying to race you on the highway?

He showed me some sick videos of highway races. There's this sick IS300 owning 400whp cobras. Boy Ricer or something like that...... can't find where I can DL the vids.
