GT3071R GTI vs Evo IX. 80-130mph roll

A friend running a GT3071R on his GTI is challenging my stock Evo IX to race from an 80mph roll. Considering that even on a very modest tuning, I know he must be somewhere in the 310-350 whp. Any thoughts on racing FWD cars from an 80mph roll??

He will absolutelly kill you. Plain and simple, don't race him because you will get owned badly. Put at least a tbe and a flash, otherwise it is a no contest.

Of course we know you are talking about a "closed track", I would say his car is heavier, and I would go for it, you can whoop him, just do some brake-boosting, and drop a gear, and you got him! Let us know how it went. AWD's are better from a dig. If he gets you, tell him to do it from a dig. fair is fair.

i think he will win. actually gti's are lighter then evo's and with even 300whp he should have no problem walking away from you at 80mph. If he wont go from a dig, atleast start at like 45mph and do some brake boosting in third. Perhaps this way you can catch some of his traction issues, which im sure he has.

Yes, he has 2 door MK4 GTI, the curb weight is a lilttle over 3K I believe. He has not gone dyno with this set-up yet. The kit he bought was put together by Kinetic Motorsport and the software was tuned by Unitronics.

Garrett GT3071R (0.64)
ATP manifold & downpipe (fitting sucked!)
475cc Injectors
Kinetic MS FMIC
Unitronics Custom Software

475cc are on the small side of things for the GTi so he cant be making really large numbers. I think it will be very close.... Plus if unitronics hicups like it loves to do you in the clear.

actually 475cc injectors should be good for about 300whp all day. So its only a 1.8 liter engine, but those 1.8t motors are pretty well built and certainly flow well. Think about having 20psi of boost with that exact setup on an evo. You still dont think he has about 300whp with the advantage of only having 2wd?

ROFL@80 roll.

Tell him real races occur from digs, so dig or 10MPH. If he wants traction he should have thought of that before turbo'd a FWD car.
