If it is a buddy buddy race, why all the hype? I don't understand. ****'s and giggles right? There shouldn't be a thread on a buddy buddy race.

I think someone challenged you that is not a close friend and you are worried about being beat. TBE, and a tune will give you a better shot. An 80 roll is ridiculous. Around here, all vw's want to start from an insane start like 80 or even 100 - top speed. That is plain retarded, especially off the track of a closed course.

Since i believe it is not a close friend, decline his 80mph roll and go from a dig. If he complains, he should have bought an AWD car or invested in LSD.

The other day someone "out in town" said they beat a moderately modded evo VIII from a roll because the evo let off @ 120. This "kid" wanted to run to 160 he said and blah blah. If you have to run on the road, i wouldnt push 100. When things go wrong at that speed, you are as good as dead. Tire blows out, unforseen pothole, tire in the road, an animal, who knows, anything.

I used to have a mk4 gti 1.8 turbo and they weigh about 2800 lbs. he's probably pushing 310-330 whp with that turbo. so you'd lose from 60+ mph roll. for sure you'd take him off a dig because hed have wheelspin 1st-3rd gear but you may stand a chance off a roll if you had acouple mods on your ix. tbe, mbc, and a flash.

You need some mods before you can run him seriously. I think you need to run him from a dig and shut down at around 80. Then refuse to race him again until you are modded

no accualy I want my tires to spin, that way I don't strip the teeth from my gears or break a drive shaft. My suspention is Koni coilovers, and Kumo tires , I use cheap tires cause they burn to much.
The car is a mk3. And those 1.8t's, guys are making 450 whp on a stock engine.
I work on those peice's of crap everyday, they are nothing more than check engine light, oil pressure light, overheating sh*t boxs. That allow me to make my payment on the EVo

he could be putting down more power than that. My buddies old MK IV GTI hauled serious butt and it had a GT28RS, FMIC, turbo back, tube manifold, intake, injectors, and some other mods like suspension, LSD, etc. He was putting down on the dyno over 325whp on 91 octane and a moderate tune. Where it really shined was top end. It would bury the boost needle past 20psi and keep it there all the way past redline. Only downside was the torque steer...

Tell me this guy has modded his brakes for that kind of power..

Anyway.. that kind of race seems silly to me. Just as fair as you challenging him at 60 foot times. So just save yourself some gas, stroke his ego, and tell him he wins.

Take it to the track... 130 MPH on the streets in the USA is plain stupid. In Germany or some eastern European countries I would have said no problem. People here in the US are not trained to drive well at high speeds, they freak out and crash into you (assuming you are a good driver and did not make a mistake)...

80mph? im assuming he made that not you...mostly because it sounds like he'll be into boost or near it in 4th most likely and yes from a roll you will get owned...hell im sure with a turbo like that n the right supporting mods he'd beat me too. Keep it on the track n remember youre friends before and friends after... my $.02
