Dash Rattle

Anyone pinpoint the source of the passenger side dash/windshield rattle/creak yet? After searching thru the forum I've tried most the suggestions, but none have worked completely. My rattle/creak only happens at night, and only after it started raining. I'm not sure though, needa wait till the rain goes away. Anyone have any suggestions?

check under the glove box for an air vent. in my regular lancer (i'm sure its about the same) the vent was held in by a plastic fastener that kept popping out. you probably hear it when it rains if the ac is on and vibrating the vent. just my guess. hope it helps.

It's a good idea to list some of what you've tried from the archives so we don't go listing out a bunch of stuff that's old news to you. I would check the hood hinge on the passenger side. Try oiling or greasing that thing down good or try sticking something in "between" the rubbing surfaces of the hinge and see if that helps. There's a more complete description of this suggestion at the end of this thread:

I have my first rattle @ 240 miles. It only does it on fairly hard short bumps. The piece that goes under the steering col. is not supported very well. I'll live with it compared to the thought of what will happen to the car if I take it in for service :-)

I tried sticking cloth in the hinge, between the windshield and dash, and at the corner of the passenger side dash/windshield. I also WD-40'd the hinge for the hood but the squeaking is still there. I left the car out in the sun when I went to class, and it went away for a few minutes but then came back. Weird. Maybe I should take it back to the dealer.

The only rattle i ever get from the passenger side is the passenger seatbelt, which seems to always lie funny against the b-pillar.. make sure it's not that before you go tearing up the dash.

Yeah I read about the b-pillar rattle but i made sure it wasnt the seatbelt. I'm going to be bringing in the car to the dealer on Friday and I'll let everyone know how it goes.

I have the sam rattle, pissing me off. I think it may be on the outside where the plastic part meets the windshield at the bottom by the A pillar. Seems loose and rattly. Haven't checked to see what happens if it is taped down. should figure out what it is and get it sorted.

I think 2 other people (maybe some who have already commented here) mentioned a vibrating sound having something to do with the windshield wipers with no obvious fix apparent. Don't remember the specific thread though.

My eclipse used to do the same thing. For over a year I was trying to figure out what it was until a friend looked at it for about 5 seconds and said "your hood hinge is loose".....turned out he was right!

My rattle was caused by the passenger side wiper. When you hear it, turn on the wipers. If it goes away you'll know.
Cheers,

I had a little rattle somewhere in the driver side dash but it went away by itself.
