Evo IX Stock bulbs suck!!
Hoen xenonmatch plus work great in the EVo and wont hurt wiring, its about a 11% upgrade in lumens over stock - not much - but the coverage is wider which improves visibility noticeably.
+50% bulbs are a joke, you cant get more power (lumens) out of the same wattage (laws of physics) so those bulbs displace the filament position which work fine on reflectors but zero effect in projectors which the non HID Evo has
HID upgrade is the best option - however next best is the Hoen or Narva range bulbs in Europe.

That and play with the alignment a bit and you'll be good to go.

I did buy these bulbs and 7 months later one burned out, today
I really hate replaceing the bulbs in the evo....
Since I wasn't too happy with these, does anyone else have other suggestions on what kind of bulbs I should get next?
Thanks
I got HIR bulbs from the guy on Ebay, they are probably the only serious stock wattage alternative.
But even with 35% increase I still think I can't see anything.
I have a suspicion that this an issue with halogen in projector more than the stock bulbs sucking (I think the stocks OEM is a PIAA bulb).
Anyway, I've just gone with a 4300 philips/denso HID kit from http://www.hidexpert.com/ funnily enough the arrived the same day I hit a deer and smashed my HIR bulb.
There is a HIR thread on here, and a ton of stuff online, they're $50 per pair of bulbs (I will still run them in my high beams) the difference is noticeable. Just not enough for me.
My only advice on aftermarket bulbs is this.
"If it isn't made by PIAA, Philips, or Hella, it's not worth buying."

Get the 4300K kit from www.hidexpert.com Less than $300.
If HID's are too much of a hassle for you, then you should look into HIR's.
I have heard good things about HIR's, and you can read up on them here:

There are some links on that page too.....

go to the nasioc web site (www.nasioc.com) and do a search for the ultimate lighting thread. it's been up for a while and will likely answer every question you have and detail every alternative and how effective it is. i'll try to find the link in my email since i'm subscribed to that thread from my wrx days.
I just installed the 4300k kit from www.hidexpert.com and damn what a difference over the stock halogens . I can actually see at night now plus it is a nice white color coming from the lights . Here are some pictures of them at night .

Very nice. I will put that on my list of future "things to do"
