I'm about to drive from D.C. area to Indianapolos for the F1 race in my new MR and my buddy is taking his 04 S4. It should be a very fun ride excluding how much we're going to pay for gas.

The ride is quite comfortable for me on long trips. I don't get back pain in mine, compared to other cars I've driven. I must be lucky too, because my AC seems quite chilly. I have no complaints.

Well all I know is, in 90 Degrees and up, the A/C just doesn't cut it, I'm talking full blast. ESPECIALLY to get into the back of the car, it takes about 20 minutes to get back there.

I drove my '03 EVO VIII from Atlanta to Tampa with my wife in the car. She's picky about seats and generally does not find most cars comfortable. We both found the EVO VIII to be really nice on these longer trips. For whatever reason, we were fairly well rested after driving back and forth to Tampa and from Tampa to Miami and back. Later I driove the same car from Atlanta to the Pensacola area and I found the ride very comfortable. The EVO VIII has a less forgiving suspension than the MR, so the MR should be even better for trips like that. I've driven the MR in shorter jaunts like going from Atlanta to the Dragon or to Asheville, NC and similar shorter trips. As far as I'm concerned it's very comfortable in stock condition....

I did notice that after my '03 was extensively modified, it was not as much fun in the long trips, particulatrly the loud exhaust, intake, etc. I found the same thing with the cat back exhaust in my '05 MR so I put it back to stock... I think the EVOs are extremely comfortable because the seats are very supportive and hold you well during lateral Gs. Also, the EVO suspension is so good and precise that it requires a lot less work while driving... I found that I tire a lot less driving the EVO than practically any other car I've driven...

I'm choosing option B:

The Evo seems to do well on everything except compression lips. Drove my new Evo MR from Southern Cal up to WA about a month ago. The drive between LA and SF was horrible because of the non-stop compression lips on the LA freeways and on 101. My head was killing me by the time I got to my brother's house in Morro Bay. Once we got past SF the next day, there were no more compression lips, and the MR did pretty well. Not as nice as my previous car, but that's to be expected with the Advans on the Evo. I switched over to Proxes 4's a few days ago, and the ride seems to be a little smoother over the compression lips in town.

pshhh i drive two 300 mile trips every one/two months. Honestly not having cruise control is not a big deal... it would be really nice, but whatever.

As for the AC i think it sucks also.

Rear seats > STI seats so whatever.

I drive my car on long trips always but have the jetta for the really long ones. I'd say overall it's pretty comfortable aside from the exhaust note (mainly the lacking sound deadening) & lack of cruise control. It's comfortable as hell cruising especially when I strap into the harnesses to hold me up straight. The fiancee loves it because it's like an airplane, 5 minutes into the flight we've already pulled a few G's and she's sound asleep.

Now Virginia has some hot days but soon to be moving to FL and scared about how the AC is going to hold up near naples.

Good luck with your A/C, it's just in the summer days, sometimes the heat just is too much for the Evo's A/C.

You are probably right on that! It really depends on the condition of the roads. I know that no car is pleasant while driving parts of I-20 between Atlanta and Birmingham.. Some stretches of that road really suck ... However, I don't know that the EVO would be much worse than most anything else... My best experiences with the EVO VIII and the '05 MR have been on fairly smooth asphalt on the FL turnpike and I-75 or I-85 as well as two lane black top roads.... I will say however, that if the EVO is not stock, it can be very uncomfortable, particularly with aftermaket exhausts or worse yet, modified suspensions. I think the EVOs rock as far as how easy they are to drive and how well they handle. Just keep them stock and stay off bad roads if you can.... OH yeah, the AC seems to be a little weak at times, but generally it works very well at least for the front seats

I agree with what you're saying except I haven't been on a long trip with a car with a loud exhaust yet... I am planning on putting one on at some point when I get my car, so we'll see how I take it

Well that's good, I think it was atleast 100 Degrees when we were driving though, and that's without humitity added.
