yeah the cost factor is huge isnt it?

and the slicks, makes the car not street legal so buy but daily driver. I shoulda added that, any fwd can have whatever hp but to make it hook up you need to make it non street legal which is pointless for honda's, toyota's and all those other front wheel drive cars.

The only thing he mentioned that isn't street legal is the slicks, which can also be basically had. MT makes a set with one line running through it just to make it DOT legal (therefore street legal at your own risk).

I dono, I think it would easier to have it converted to rear wheel or all wheel from the factory rather they add a bunch of things to make it hook up while being FWD.
I'm thinking it might be cheaper just to make the car RWD or AWD from the begining rather then make a front wheel and then add expensive and quality parts to make sure that there is plently of traction.
This would make the car cost alot more.

my thoughts.

^^^^ Very true, car should have come RWD or AWD from the factory. But to convert it is $$$$$. Dodge did it to the SRT with the Mopar V-8 in it. I think it was at SEMA like two years ago.

He only said after 300whp isnt it pointless for a fwd car, and I replied no because if you have these you can have all the times you want. Plus, the SRT-4 is a very light car you need these to get good traction.

My friend with an SRT-4 has had it for about 2 years, got a big *** intercooler, fuel rail, and some other things i dont remember and put down 374 hp. He can launch better than any other SRTs around here (theres a group of about 8 of them) and he the better of the drivers. He finally blew the bottom end screwing around and is having the entire motor rebuilt. He will be putting down damn close to 500 hp when he gets it back. Also I've seen him beat many Evos here from a roll easily with minor upgrades to his car. He did a lot of little tricks for free with the engine to get more power as well. He also uses the stock tires and 93 octane. I also found it suprising he has broken an axle yet.

^^^^^ Is it an 04? They come with better axles than the 03 models. Mine with all the mods I had I never broke one either, but my passenger side was starting to go. They hold up pretty well.

I have owned both cars and each bring something to the table. The Evo had the handling, but I have learned after driving the SRT-4 for sometime now it can handle quite well. It just takes a little time to learn its limits. I would rate both of them simular in power in stock form. Mid range in the SRT-4 seems a little stronger. In modified form I enjoy the SRT-4 a little better. I put close to $6,000 into my SRT-4 and it is a well balanced car. I did suspension work and it is running the S2 kit w/toys with all the bolt-on's. It is not a track car at all. 1st and 2nd are pretty much worthless. I was however suprised at the high trap speed considering the mods. It trapped 107 in the quarter without running it in high octane mode. Not bad for the stock turbo without race gas. I do still miss the low 12's in the EVO, but that got costly when I was replacing TC's on a regular basis.
