my IS 300 was pain in the *** when it came to paint chips, paint was super soft. So i dont think its a build quality issue just with mitsu, seems like alot of manufactureres are going the route of softer paint. I think this helps with small fender benders or somthing i dunno. I think it sucks.

I am having paint problems as well. The paint behind the rear door on the passenger side (where the door meets the frame) has several chips in it. Took it to the dealer and they say "rocks flew up and hit it".

I still don't understand how a rock can come from the front tire and hit that spot, and multiple times at that. *scratching head*

Nothing to serious yet with 2700 miles on it. Clucth throw-out bearing is going and a boost leak from a cracked vacuum hose but no where near out weighs how much I love the car. Much better then my TT stealth. Now I just got to get it as fast

Gee - Amazing - people actually have no problems with the Evo. I am so F'IN sick of people trying to find something wrong with it. Are you so neurotic in the rest of your life? I am surprised some of the Evo owners here even make it to work for fear of the sky falling or some other stupid ****. Simple idea - don't thrash the car, the car works fine. Amazing....

no major problems - the only real annoyance is a come & go rattle from the drivers side dash. I suspect that a coin flipped out from that little drawer/pocket on the drivers side dash that I used to keep my change in... I don't do that any more

ditto, i have to complain about the paint, i just got rear ended today by a SL500 (apparently the evo brakes are REALLY REALLY good ) becuase he said to me, "wow, i couldn't believe how well that car stopped, it was going, then it just stopped"

anyway off topic, i am going to see about during the repair process, paying the difference to just get the whole car repainted and clearcoated by a better paint and mayube 2 layers of clear. and if its too expensive, just clean up the paint and add another layer of clear.
