Raising stock headlight height
Raising stock headlight height
not sure if this has been posted before but here goes...
I know alot of people were complaining about the height of the headlight beam... well i did some diging around in the engine bay today and found out how to adjust the low beam height...
if you look in the engine bay, just behind where the low beam is there is a white cap covering the height adjustment bolt... after some careful persuasion (meaning i ripped the dam thing off with a pair of needle nose plyers) the cap came off and revealed the bolt. I marked my garage with the current beam height and turned the bolt clockwise about 1/4 of a turn... it's day time out now but hopefully this will be a decent fix for some of us that live in the middle of no where..
this is a pic of the passenger side headlight ... u can see the bolt marked by the arrow... I tested the adjustment tool from inside the car and the height returned to my setting and not the factory.. so it should help out some of you

well...i don't have a EVO but yesterday i chatted for about a hour with a dealer checking out the EVO.Now he showed me a funky lil thing that i didn't know the EVO had.H pushed a lil button on the dash and it adjusted the height. He said that it was a stock feature and all EVO's have it.Seems like a cool idea to me.When your in the city you can lower them and while on the open road you can raise them.Don't know if i'm babbleing here and you want to raise the beam height even higher but just thought i'd put this out in case
yeah the problem is that the highest setting is still a little low for us country folk... for once i wish it was winter so i could test out the new height. It's 5:30 and still light out, oh well i'm sure it will work out fine

you guys know that your lights are only supposed to shine on the road right? they aren't meant to be focused on the horizon, that's what the high beams are there for. also, in a previous thread someone stated that the height adjustments should always be set to the highest and if you put weight in the trunk it should be lowered to compensate for the angle.

How did you do last week after Krispy Kreme?
Couple of things, its a 10mm bolt, and you get maybe 1/2 turn = very small adjustment. Don't keep turning, or likely it will strip the adjuster and may end up being worse than you started. Most likely this is the fine-tuning bolt used by
to make sure all the Evos have the same headlight alignment, and its limited for safety reasons.
Now if someone wants to take apart their headlights to see if you can tweak it more... be sure to post pics!

Okay guys. For the second time here goes--while looking down at the drivers side light, look at approx. the center light.
more or less behind it you will see a toothed wheel with a 60 degree angle to get to it. Place a phillips screwdriver right in the slot and turn clockwise. The low beam will magically raise. Trust me, I did this the first day I got the Evo. It is a little tougher to get to the right side on.
Good luck!
